Having been one of tho most active

which be used the following language:
'I have been asked whether I would turn traitor
like Auurew Johnson, because I was a Democrat

ence." That is to say, Geary, the "Demo
crat, without prefix or aflix," as he
styled himself in his Maguire letter,
will turn traitor to tho "IJepublioan"
party if it profits him to do so. Should
the Democracy get into power, Geary

he "will make no pledges." If that
