The dashing young state of lowa
was the first to bear its soxereigu tes
timony in behalf of freedom, since the
nomination of Fremont and Dayton
and she .has covered herself with im
perishable honor. Nothing could be
more complete than the victory just
obtained by the Republicans, except
tfie 'defeat sustained by the Buchaniers.
The entire delegation iu Congress,
eight thousand majority forth° Repub
lican State ticket, two-thirds of the
legislature,. with, a control, for the
first time of the State Senate' are
among the crowning. fruits of this
great triumph.
The first Congaessio ial district,
which, two years since, returned Hall.
plebraska democrat) by an alleged
majority of 179, has now sent the same
Mr. Hall to private life, and has chos
en a sound and reliable Republican in
his place, by at least a thousand ma
jority—the latest telegraphic report
makes it fifteen, hundred. The same
district, in 1852, gave a majority of
727 for Pierce, The second district,
which gave Pierce a plurality of 403
fuur years ago, has now given the Re
publican party a majority of four or
five thousand. The state Senate, last
year Nebraska, has been redeemed,
while the Republican majority in the
House has been largely increased.

Allantown Lehigh County, has hauled
down the Fillmore and Donelsun
ticket from its mast head and hoisted
in its place that of Fremont and Day
ton. This is a Garman paper of con
siderable influence, in Northampton,
Bucks, Carbon awl Berks Counties.

an Church of Ulysses Township, in the Coun
ty of Potter, and State of Pennsylvania, wish
to be incorporated according to the articles
hereunto attached; would recommend to the
Honorable Court to incorporate said Church
aecordinily, and your petitioners, as in duty
bousd, will ever pray, &a.

.This corporation or body politic .
shall be known by the name and style of the
First Presbyterian Church of Ulysses, and -by
the same sue and be sued,plead and be implead
ed in all courts of law and equity, and shall be
able and capable in law and equity, to take,
hold and enjoy for the izse of the said Church
such lands and tenements, goods and chattels,
as are, or shall hereafler become the property
of the said Church or to be held for their
use, by. gift, grant, devise, bequest or other
wise, from any person or persons whomso
ever, capable of making the 'same and the
same to grant bargain sell or otherwise dis
pose of for the use of the said Church, and
congregation.
Sec. 2. That Dairk Whipple, Jessee, Ben
ton, Q. G. Presho, O. W. Benton, and E.
Merril, shall be Trustees of said Church and
shall serve in that capacity until the appoint
ment of their successors according to the
rules and regulations by which said Church
is governed.
Sec. 3. That said Trustees or their succes
sors in office shall have the tare and manage . -
ment of the property teal, personal and mixed
belongiu. e to the said Church corporation,
and shall be -accountable thereto for their
official conduct and shall, in all .respects,
conforn to its instructions, provided that the
s.,ine ate not inconsistent with the Constitu
tion of the United States, or of this Com
wealth, or with the laws thereof.
Sec. 4. The said corporation shall have
full power to make and use a common seal
with such device or inscription thereon as
they may deem proper and the same to alter
or review at pleasure, and also to enact and
enforce such By-Laws, Ordinances, and Reg
.ulations from time to, time, as 'they may
judge expedient for the prosperity and good
goverumeut of the said corporation.
At a court of Common Pleas held in and
fur the county of Potter, commencing on the
16th of June 1.856, in the matter of the appli
cltion of A. G, Olmsted and others for a char
ter of incorporation:
And now, to wit. June 20 HA the court
having perused and examined the within in
strument of writing, and the objects, artic:es
and conditions, therein set forth and contain
ed appearing to be lawful and not injurious to
the community, it is ordered that said writing
be fi.ed in the office of the Prothonotary of
said court, and that notice be inserted in. one
newspaper printed in said County, for at least
three weeks, setting forth that application has
been made to said court to grant to said appli
cants a charter of incorporation for the
purposes specified, under the name and style
of the First Presbyterian Church of Ulysses

WHEREAS, the Hou. R. G. White. Pres
ident Judge and the Hon. 0. A Levels
and Joseph Mann, Ens, Associate Judges of
the Courts. of Oyer hnd Termiuer and Gene
ral Jail Delivery,. Quarter Sessions of the
Peace. Orphan's Court and Court of Common
Pleas fur the Couuty of Potter.. have issued
their precept, bearing date the 19th day of
June, in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and fifty-six,: and to me direc
ted. fur holding a Court of Dyer and Terminer
and General Jail Delivery, Quarter Sessions
of the Peace, Orphan's Court, and Court of
Common Pleas, in the Borough of Couders -
port, on MONDAY,. the 15th day of Sept.,
next, and to continue one week.
Notice is therefore hereby given to the
Coroners. Justices of the Peace, ncd Conga,
Wes within the county, that they be then and
there in their proper persons, at 10 o'clock;
A. M. of said day. with their rolls, • records,
inquisitions, examinations. and other remem
braces, to do those things which to their offices
appertain to he done. - And those who are
hound by their recognizance. to • prosecute
against the prisoners that.are or shall he in
the jail of the said county of Potter are to be
then and there to prosecute against them as
will be just.
Dated at Coudersport, June 19th, 1856, and
the 80th year of the Independence of 'the
United States of America.
