CROPS Ai•7n gAltvEST.—While politicians dispute and canvassers argue the processes of nature go on without interruption,' crops mature alike for Democrats and Republi cans, and farmers, those who 'go for Grant 'and those who support Seymour, 'harvest the fruits of the earth. The Agricultural Report for last month shows that with few exceptions there is a fair yield of. the iin pot tent products. The average is very flat tering. , With reference to corn it shows an increase of area planted this year over last about 3,000,000 acres, and reports the crop prospects as generally good for fully or 'more than an average crop. The general average of the report of the wheat crop is favorable; the Report says, " the favorable reports are so :numerous in the Western States especially, that it is unnecessary to give them in detail;" and in summing up: the local reports it is .confidently estimated that the crop will be many thousands of bushels larger than was ever grown in the country before. Rye, oats and barley also piornise large crops. Potatoes which were so poor a crop last season,-now look re markably well, and the area planted is largely in excess of what it was last year, excepein the State of Rhode Island. The fruit crop is generally a failure,' especially apples, pears, and peaches. In the North ern States particularly, the crop promises 'to be quite small. As an offset to the fruit fa.ilure_is the extraordinary demand for hay, superinduced by the prolonged drought in England, which makes the sup ply very short there. The consequence is ,that American farmers aro finding a profit able market abroad, and we witnesss the extraordinary spectacle of a heavy expor tation of hay. COUNCIL. People know:that linimentscomposed of Cay enne pepper, turpentine, hartshorn, ether, Sc., will produce inflammatiOn and pain. To.pur chase such trash to stop pain and ingamination is ridiculous. ,Firo will , not stop heat; a dumb brute shuns the beat, and knows enough to wade in a pond of water, whew wounded, to reduce, cool, and cure Inflammation and Fever. Pimps and gamblers try to look honest, but links can read the face too plainly. Some try to Persuade the ignorant that pills,• physic, etc., cleanse the blood purge the system, and do a hundred other things equally absurd. Every body knows that it is false, and that no medi cine can purify or increase a drop of blood. Food makes blood, bone, and muscle, and is the stairof life- Every dose of medicine swallowed is rejected, and hurried out of the system as quick. as possible. I.t Is an enemy; yea,a deadly me.
