SERIOUS RAILROAD ACCIDENT.— Thursday afternotin a train of cars on the Pittsburg ct Erie It, It., broke through a bridge at Union Mills, nine miles from Erie, a number of persons were. killed. Scott Patton, formerly of Columbia, (brother of William Patton, Esq.,' of this place,) and wife and small child, were seriously injured, and one of their daugh ters killed. They were on their way to this Place to "spend the summer amongst their' friends. William Patton and his :ni other, upon lNirn fug the sad news, took the westerri train same day, for the scene of the disaster. ; INTERESTING EXERCISES.—Very in teresting and impressive exercises were held in the Lutheran Church, on Sunday after/Mon last. The two schools of the church were :brought together in the audience chainber of the church, where after singing a few of their beautiful hymns, the children -were entertained by an address from the Pastor of the church, Rev. W. H. Steck, from the words: "Suffer little children to come 'unto the and forbid them not, for of 'such is the kingdom s of Heaven.". After the address, which was attentively listened to, the children sung the beautiful hymn, "Forbid •them Not." During the singing of the last verse, several mothers with their ,little ones presented themselves at the al tar, and the children were dedicated by baptisM to the Lord. The school then sung Jesus is our Shepherd, and after repeating in concert the Lord's Prayer, were dismiss ed.
