Our Columbia 'attics can take the palm from any town on the Susquehanna, for they are, as Gleason says, "perfectly .:harming and gracefully bewitching, and roues of them sit down so natural When theywould prefer remaining on their feet." NEW STOttE.—it will be seen by an advertisement in anothercolumn, that Mr. Hardman has opened a first class grocer 2.- store at the corner of 3rd A: Cherry streets. His goods are all new and the very best.— We can testify to his fresh peaches having tried them, they aru excellent. It was put up at Norris' Lancaster Lo• comedy° Works, and is a splendid piece of workmanship. Naming it after our worthy townsman pays him a high and lasting honor. Several now and splendid passenger cars havo been manufactured expressly for this road and have lately been put on the rails. This addition to the already conapkto array of ears on the It. &. C. Perhaps no railroad is more noticeable for -the civility and at- Feqtion of its officials, and this compliment is particularly attributable to the Superin tendent and Conductors, who appear to be thOroughly conversant with the art of be ing courteous:and at the Immo time per forming their duties efficiently and faith fully. noW TO Snow ]cult FRIE.S9SUIP ron'TnE Parint.—We can adopt the lan guage of a clmatemporary and say, "sub scribe and pay for it. Theycham that it is much more rapid, less expensive, ulna better poney on the whole than draft ing." No doubt more nun have been ob tained by volunteering than by drafting. To THOSE WllO GO our SISOPPINC.— \Vr direct the attention of those persons about to go out shopping for Christmas presents, to the bee hive advertisement of Messrs. Stacy A: Bowers. As the bee I gathers honey front every flower to add to its stores of sweets, so do these gen tlemen gather from the best markets to add to their collection of all that is rich and elegant, durable and useful. We doubt if there is another dry goods estab lishment in this Borough that can coni pete in styles and priers with this popu lar store. Call around and invest, and you will find that our favorable represen tation of this firm is all truth and no pap fine. AN AFFECTING INClDENT.—fester-ere, with joyous spirits, and in gorgeous trim arrayed, I sallied forth with charming Clara, for a dashingprumenade. AL: what strains of magic power swell the chord of youthful pride, us one threads the walks of fashion with a beauty by his side.— Clara, with. a grace bewitching, seemed to rip on fairy feet, and each passer turned to view ussalling grandly up Locust street; thrilled my heart with adoration for my fond affections' queen, beating time to mystic rustling of her crinoline. Sudden ly my charmer faltered, as if shocked by sonic great ill, while the anguish of her features seemed iny„ininest soul to chill, lightly on my arm she languished, and I cried in anxious fear: "Speak once more, my darling Clara—tell me what's the mat ter, dear."
