LIEUT. BansErt.—Lieutenant Cyrus Bru
ner who was shot through the hip, at the
battle of th e Wilderness, way brought
home last week.
The men of his regiment speak in the
highest terms of his qualifications as a
soldier. His wound israpidly improve
ing.
MILITIA PAID.—Muj. B. L. liewit, Pay
master U. S. A., arrived in town on Mon
day evening last, and on the following
morning proceeded to pay off the militia
called out by tile Governor in September,
hoar companies were paid, Cap
tains Rambo, Devlin, Case and Stern.

A stranger arrived in town on Saturday
last and registered his name at the Frank
lin House as Henry Hamilton, Harrisburg,
Pa. On Sunday he was seen in the vicini
ty of Second and Locust Streets talking to
the children in the neighborhood, but no
notice was taken of it. On Monday morn
ing he succeeded iii gettingone of Mr. Hi
ram Wilson's children,and also one of Mr.
Hixson's ( mere infants) to follo.v him by
giving them eandy, &c. The children were
soon missed by their parents and a gener
al *march commenced, which for a time
raised quite an excitement. They were at
length found with the person alluded to
above, near the outskirts of town, who, up
on seeing a crowd of people, made his es
eime. ' Ile was found next day and brought.
before Esquire Eberlein who, upon the tes
timony elicited at the examination, sent
him to prison in default of bail. He is a
mart of about 30 years of age, dark com
plexion, medium height. There is nothing
in his manner or appearance that would
: indicat4hint to be other then a gentleman.

ple reside, who are . ..ppoken of as prom
inent citizens. lie 'seemed indifferent to
his fate. If he had no evil: intentions,
his actions; were certainly very queer for a

SEIVIOLTS FALL.—A man named Henry
l'ahringer, who has been in the employ of
the Messrs. Cottrells as tin-smith, attempt
ed to get in . the window of the American
House, (where he boarded,) on Wednesday
meriting last. He ascended the awning,
and when near the window, it gave way
and he fell astride the iron railing leading
to the restaurant, horribly bruising his
face, fracturing his arm and otherwiseln
juring hint. Ho was taken lir:Wrightsville
where his family reside. •

- Reserves arrived home this week.
Already we see on ourstreets the old famil
liar races of C01..f. W. Fisher, Capt. Cald
well, Lieut. J. L. Wright, Lieut. Samuel
Evans, and others. They look war-worn
and fatigued. Their sun-burned counte
nances show that they have been long in
actual service. The Division left Harrisburg
three years, ago at least fifieen thousand
strong—they return with only fifteen hun
dred strong, though a few of them have
re-enlisted.
