They can be procured from any of the nurserymen; and in order that those not familiar with their character may know how to select, a list and brief description of some of the most popular varieties is appended : Wistaria fruitescenis can betrained as a dwarf weeping tree, or as a climber "or for the purpose of covering lattice work, le. Chinese honeysuckles present a very beautiful appearanec when trained upon short posts. They grow to massy, ever green, weeping bushes, with blossoms, and delightful fragrance. They are also suit able for covering arbors, verandas, lattice frame work, &c. The golden-leaved honeysuckle, with its yellow marble foliage, is a desirable low climber. The coral, yellow and monthly honey suckles, can also be made deciduous shrubs, or, if desired, can be trained as common climbers. They can be kept in flower for several monthsby removing fading blooms, so as to prevent the maturing of seeds. The sweet scented hardy jessamine can be made a shrub or trained as a climber. It blooms for two months. The sweet-scented clematis is of delight ful fragrance, and can he trained to grow as a bush or a'climber. It blooms for two months. There are various other kinds of the blooming clematis, with blooms of several colors, and some of them largely variegated. Having slender stems, they can only be grown as climbers.—Rural World. Farmers Visiting Each Other, Better, but not a substitute for the in terchange of experience through the pa pers by flamers, is the practice of visiting and talking with each other, examining each other's means and methods of doing business, exchanging suggestions on the farm and stock management and relative to devices for facilitating work. Scarcely any farmer will consider his time lost who devotes a certain proportion of it each year to this method of acquiring informs-' tiou and suggestion for use in his own husbandry ; for there are some things farmers must learn which no amount of newspaper description will teach ; nothing bat actual observation will answer. This sort of education, it seems to us, is too mita neglected by farmers. Experience has taught us hew profitable it is, how much it saves in the way of experiments, and how mush it enriches in the way of actual suggestions of improved methods, and by the accumulation of facts that nev er reach the public, because so few farmers ever write them. It is, therefore, urged here that no possible investment of time can give greater compensation than that expended in exchanging visits with the best farmers of a township or county. The Care of Manure , An exchange says: In the Spring of 1871, we hauled the manure from the barn-yard and spread it on a field having sandy soil. This field had been run to' death by its former owner. The manure was spread very evenly, but still there were some places where it was thicker than in others. The field was plowed 7i inches deep. Its former owner used to skim the surface. • Oats were sown and dragged in. After the oats were about six inches high they were top-dressed with plaster. The season was a very dry one; scarcely any rain fell, but the oats grew remarkably fast.. Standing where you could look over the field, you 'could see where each bit ef manure bad been spread; where it had been spread thiekest and where thinest, just by the difference in the growth of the oats. The field yielded 60 bushels per acre. The manure was not all buried under seven inches of soil.— Each furrow lapped a little on the one be fore it, so that the manure may be said to have been distributed in a succession of inclined strata. In this manner a part of the manure would be near the surface, another part a little further below, while a third part would be at the bottom of the furrow, 7i inches deep. Rose Cutting Max Close, an experienced gardner, says : "Instead of throwing my prunings away last spring I used them as cuttings —puta whole lot of them a dozen or mere in a marmalade jar filled with coarse sand and water, with sufficient of the latter to be about a quarter of an inch or so above the sand. I then plunged the jur into a slight hot-bed, and let the cuttings have all the light and sun possible—never sha ding once." After eight weeks he exam ined the jars and found the roots to fill them, and the shoots in the healthiest con dition. Nothing could be more so. Ile adds : "Out of about 150 cuttings of three dozen kinds of roses, I only missed stri king fifteen, which I think is a veryeneour aging result; anyhow, 1 . shall consider it the road royal, and experiment again in a similar manner in summer, when I shall pay more attention to the preparing of the cuttings and the way they will strike the readiest." Pulling at the Halter. A year ago I had a four-year old horse which contracted the habit of pulling back whenever she was fastened. She would be sure to break loose if what held her could be broken by her drawing in such a backward way. She was cured of the habit by taking a rope two feet long, fast ening one end around her body just be hind her shoulders, and passing the other end through the ring of the halter and tying it to the post. She lay back for her usual pull several time when fixed in this way but soon found she was drawing from her body instead of her head, which she did not relish, and soon gave it up entire ly. She can now be left anywhere in per fect safety, as nothing will induce her to pull back when fastened. MEN talk about the idle wind; but the wind is always busy, and, like a cheerful farmer whistles at its work. Miscellaneous, -1-. ' CI.REAT DISCOVERY •—• KUNKEL'S BITTER WINE OF 1110 N.
