Noel, $3O There may be a few:slight inaccuracies in the aboye, as from a number of dis tricts I have as yet no official report, and was obliged to give the facts from my own memoranda; but it will be found to be, in the main, correct. In many districts the terms are to short and the compensation insufficient. It will be a happy day for us, when no District in the county will have less than 6 months of school, and the lowest salary will be $35, Then our best Teactiers will not he continually. *4l•Plir the profession, or removing to other local ities. Then we can begin to enforce a standard, which will. give us competent Teachers. In Hamiltonban, I understand, the Directors had intended to either englite i n the term or increase the salary, lif they obtainN the State Approatation, which had been forfeited by the employ. meat of a Teacher without a vaUd cast* cats. As I have obtained this for, them, the figures of this township may be im proved a little. From the foregoing figures, it appears that the average length of term • for the 161 Schools is a small fraction in excess of 5 months r and the average pay per month, is $30.15 nearly; li STOP!
