OUR RULERS AND OUR
the breaking out of the War, public atten
tion has turned'instinctively to the exami
nation of our forniof government to ascer
tain its powers, functions, and capacity.
Strange as it may seem, there were no
-books adapted t o give the information
sought, and the people were compelled to
depend on the newspapers for such mea
gre scraps as could be picked up from time
10 time. This was very unsatisfactory,
and every intelligent person felt the want
of some manual at once reliable, concise,
and full. We believe that we have in
the work before us, a book which supplies
this want. "Our Rulers and otir Rights or
the outlines of the U. S. Geyeruuent,"
treats very fully of the origin, orgatnza
tien and functions of every department of
the general government, and very much
perta, ining'to the several States. it would
take columns to describe all the work con
tains.
The power of condensation and method
show great skill in the anthor. The de
sign is admirable. The plan is Well car
ried out. The price is very moderate. It
contains over 500 pages, has four steel en
gravings, and excellent large sized seals of
the different States. Messrs. PARMELEE
Co,, of Philadelphia, deserve the thanks
of the whole country for publishing a work
like this, free from all political bias, and
adapted to the wants of the common peo
ple.
We predict an immense sale. Every
citizen would do well to secure a copy
while they have the opportunity. It is
sold only by subscription. Watch for the
Agent and secure this valuable work.
