The announcement that the Dr. would read drew out a full Hall,• as he is a popular lecturer. The selections were varied, in good taste, and capitally reipiered. The closing piece, To*bridge's • •Darius Green and his Flying blaChine" brought down the house. The Dr. has rare capecity as a public reader, and Ju diciously intersperses his readings with occasional sallies of wit, which has the ef fect to keep his audienoes In good humour. Mr. Lawrence sprained his foot so badly as not to be able to do anything for some days. Jr. Emlet also had the instep bone of his foot severely cracked. On the 27th ult., a small boy, between two and three years old, son of Mr. Ephraim Wilt, of Mountpleasant town ship, met with a strange and startling accident. Whilst undertaking to step across the rod driving a threshing ma chine, in motion, his apron was caught, and in the twinkling of an eye the Hide fallow was being' carried around the rod with great rapidity, his head and body coming iti contact at every -revolution with the hard earth and stone of which the barn-bridge was composed. As soon as observed, he was extricated from his perilous position, more dead than a live, it was feared. He was terribly bruised . , and his right arm broken.—Contpiler.
