THE SPRING ELECTIONS.—In another column we give a list of the officers elected in the several boroughs and townships of this county, at the recent election, which we copy from the Chmpiler. The Copperhead managers, going it blind, have been making th 4 usual ado about "Great Democratic Gains," without troubling themselves to look into details. " We felt curious enough to look into the returns, as filed In the Clerk's oflice,.to see what basis there was for all this jubilation, and commend the result to our Democratic friends. In the_ former we give the majority for litspector, and in the latter we give the joint Copper head vote. We do not, of course, assume these figures as absolutely true tests of the strength of parties in the several districts in vote. York Springs, which in this ta ble gives but 96 Republican majority, can in a full vote give us 300; while Mountpleaa ant, which in the table gave the Copperheads brit 63 majority, cap in a full vote give them Over 200. But the table is an interesting :supplement to the Copperhead boasts of ex traordinaty "democratic gains" in the county. Last fall the Copperheads carried the county by 392 majority for Suanswoon. Now, they have 107 majority on the vote for Judges of , :pleetions, and4sll.on Inspectors— a lose of near 3001 The Copperhead politi cians must haves queer kind of arithmetic, by aid of which to cypher heavy lows into heavy gains.
