The committee urge the friends and patrons of the Encampment and Fair to plan tor a bigger and better horticultural exhibit than ever before at our Granger's picnic, The season is a week in advance of other years and as a consequence, fruits and vegetables in better condition for Green-Callahan. A very pretty wedding was solemniz- ed on August 2nd. when Melville K. Green, of Philadelphia, and Miss Ruth E. Callahan, of Linden Hall, were “nit- ed in marriage, at the residence of the bride's parents, Mr, and Mrs. Daniel Callahan, at Linden Hall. The parlor was tastefully decorated in white and reen and promptly at 6 o'clock p. m. Hh Bertha Callahan sister of the bride, played the wedding march and they were ushered in by Howard Callahan and Mrs. Verna Callahan, where they were met by Rev, 8. C. Stover, who pro- nouaced them man and wife in the pres- ence of a few immediate friends. The bride wore a veil pinned with orange blossoms and was attired in a white silk crepe de chene dress, The groom wore the conventional black, After congratulations, a delicious wedd- ing dinper was served, which Mrs. Cal Jahan knows so well to prepare. After a short wedding trip they will reside in apartments in Philadelphia which the groom has in waiting. After Septem- ber 1st they will return to State College, where the groom will complete his course in landscape gardening. Saturday with friends in Lewistown, Mrs. J. C. Will Elder and sister Alice, of Medina, Ohio, for the first time in twenty-four vears, are visiting friends and relatives 1m the valley. Miss Alice Bowersox, one of the Pennsy's efficient clerks in Philadelphia, is spending her vacation amcng rela tives and friends in the valley. Miss Minnie Collins, a trained nurse of Philadelphia, is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Collins. The young lady spent 1s months in overseas ser- vice in France, and was with the army for —————— ——————— exhibition purposes, An effort will be made this year to have a poultry exhibit. This ought not | to be difficult in view of the fact that] Centre county boasts of its advance in that line. And by a good exhibit, we can show those outside the county what | we have done.
