Jacobs, of this place, while attending his pa- tients in the Loop, met with a severe accident, He was driving down a steep hill at James Horner's, when tho breech band of the harness broke and let the buggy run against the horse. The horse was a young beast and began to run and kick, and soon became unman- ageable. Seeing several children in the road ahead of him, the doctor leaped from the buggy and finally succeeded in quieting the frightened beast. After unhitching the horse, he felt a severe pain in his right ankle and was carried to Mr. Horner's house and was brought home in the afternoon. It seems that in leaping from the buggy, he stepped upon his right foot and tore some of the tendons and fractured a small bone in the ankle.
