Buy your next winter's supply of coal now when you can get it in quantity and quality to suit. You may think prices will be lower, but I cannot see where there is a possible chance for lower prices, unless by a reduc- tion in freight rates. If this reduction should come, until it comes, this advantage would all be lost in the extra advances that are sure to come. The Legislature, a short time ago, passed an act put- ting a tax on anthracite coal, which amount to from 156 to 20 cents a ton. This act will go into effect July 1st, and as a consequence the mines will be swamped with orders in June and many will remain unfilled. Permit me to suggest May to be the best month in which to buy coal, and if you put in your supply now, you will help us empty our bins, and give us an oppor- tunity to fill up again, and help us to prevent, as much as possibie, a coal scarcity when the cold weather sets in, BUY NOW ; WILL DO ALL WE CAN TO SUPPLY YOU. FRIDAY, MAY 13th ALTOONA COMMUNITY DOLLAR DAY To you who are here and to the thousands who will be here we say that FRIDAY, May the 13th, Altoona merchants will join forces to celebrate 1921's second Community Dollar Day. These Community Dollar Days are known far and near and are looked forward to with eagerness by those who come in the trolley, by horse, by motor, or by steam cars and by those who need only to walk: , Q On this special day each merchant tries to outdo the other in giving quantity and quality for the popular price of a dollar. J Hundreds of people come to Altoona on Community Dollar Day, everi though they haven't a dollar, just to see the crowds. {J Doesn’t this prove that your dollar is worth much more during these “Carnivals of Economy” than at any other time? —- €§ Usually superstitious people stay at home on Friday the 13th because it is supposed to be an unlucky date. Proof to the contrary about the people of Altoona and the surrounding district will be given on that Friday, because nobody stays at home on Community Dollar Day, whether it be the 13th, or Friday-—or both. 4 A list of the live institutions who are responsible for this great money-saving’ event appears in this advertise- ment. They are Booster members, every one of them and they only are permitted to display the Booster em- blem of honestry and integrity. q Look for it!
