Paul McWilliams spent several days with her brother, Herb.rt, in the Smoky City, last week. Sallie Riley, of Boaleburg, while visiting her cousin, Mrs. John Quinn, took ill with grip. The many friends of Mre. Harry Walker will be glad to learn of her bury hospital. Goheen home, Baileyville, Saturday evening. ji Mre, Esther Neidigh, Brush school, was an over Buoday vigitor at the W. T. Lytle home at Rock Springs. Robert Lohr, lomber contractor, was taken to the Roaring Bprings hos- pital to take treatment for a nervous breakdown, last Thursday. The venerable Bamuel Grenoble of Pine Hall is suffering a stroke of par- alysie, and owing to his advanced years his recovery is doubtful. On account of an epidemic of dip'- theria at the Lock Haven Norms, Miss Margaret Glen returned to the parental home Wednesday. At a regular congregational meeting in the Presbyterian church, held last Bunday, Dr. G. H. Woods presided over the choosing of a pastor in the person of Rev. L. V. Barber, who re- ceived a unanimous vote, Robert B, and Mrs. Fry are mourn- ing the death of their twin baby girl, May, ten months old, who died of whooping cough and convulsions, Saturday night. Only recently its mate was laid to rest. Barisal wee made in the Union cemetery, Belle- fonte, Tuesday afternoon. DEATH OF A. B. BAILEY. The death of A. 8. Bailey, a former prominent citizen, occurred at the home of his sop, George Bailey, in the state of Oregon, February lst. His son found him cold in death, Arm- strong Stewart Bailey was the oldest son of John and Nancy Goheen Bailey and was born in the village that bears his name, Jap, 10, 1838, His young days were spent on the home farm in the Glades. He entered Farm Behool in the fall of 1860, when only 35 scholars were enrolled. When the call came for troops he enlisted in Co. E, 45th P. V, Regiment and served for four years, participating in seventeen hard fought battles; he was twice wounded and captured and spent eight months in Libby prison. Later he was promoted to 2ad Lieut, He was a descendant of a long line of patriots, one grand-uncle serving in the Revo- lutionary war and another in the war of 1812. He is survived by his wife, one son and several grandchildren, Also two brothers—ti. W,, of Hanawe, 2 and Warren 8., of Illinois—and two sisters —Mre. D. R. Grazing, of Nefls Mills, and Mary of Kansas City. He was a loyal G. A. R. member; they with the B. of V. and B. W. V. laid him to rest Tuesday, the G. A. R. post being in charge.
