THE CENTRE REPORTER. _—— THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 1 A—————————————" 916 Penna, Live Stock Kanks High, Pennsylvania farms contain elight- ly over two per cent, of all the live stock in the United States according to statistios prepared by the Htate De- partment of Agriculture, The statistics show that Pennayl- vania’s two per cent, of live stock Is valued at 2.8 per cent, of the entire valuation of $6,002,784,000 placed upon the live stock in the United Btates and that the av-rage price per heal for horses, mules, miloch cows, sheep and swine Is higher in this State than the average price per head of the stock of the nation, For cattle other than mileh cows the Pennsylvania average is $29.00 per head against a pational aversge of $83.49 per head. This difference in price is due, in & large measure, to the fact that Pennp- gylvania ie a buying rather than a producing State in feeder cattle. The average price of cattle, bowever, has shown an incresse in recent years ow- ing to the introduction of pure bred stock. Penpsylvania hes cn its farms per cent. of all the horses in the Unit. ed States, and they are valued st 3.4 peg.cent, of the estimated value of the horses of the nation.
