Hepler, of the Free Methodist ehurch At 10 10 Delige walked to the gallows with = firm ste and displayed no emotion whatever, He was sccompsanied by Revs, Paul and Hepler, Sheriff Hurley and Deputy Sheriff Reese, Prayers were offered by both ministers, after which the Deputy Sheriff prepared to adjust the leg straps, but Delige told hun that he wished to say a few words. Nlepping forward Delige made the following speech which consumed about toree minutes time “(entlemen, this a heautiful day. I am glad to see 80 many pleasant faeces here this morning. All 1 wish to say is that I have not many min- utes to live. I know that I have done a very bad crime and am willing to give my life for it. In a very few minutes from now I expect to drop into the arms of Jesus, [I want to thank the Bherifl, Deputy Bheriff and guards for what they have done for me, and I wish to say a word about the grab the good wife cooked for me. I feel thankful that God has let me live us long as He did, and I pray that ail my brothers turn from their sinful ways and try to do right with God I hope nothing like this will ever happen in my family sgaio, and that this will ba a warning to all persone, This i= my prayer, Good bye” Immediately after this discourse Deiige stepped back and had his legs strapped together, his arms having been pinfoned bebind bim and his wrists misoacled prior to his walk to the ses ff oid.
