Marion Birchfield spent Sunday af- ternoon at the home of her friend, Margaretta Rockey. Mrs. Samuel Floray spent part of last week at the home of Rev. and Mrs, N. J. Dubbs, at Milmont, Mrs. M., F. Rossman and Mrs, Mariah Wagner left on Thursday of last week for Altoona where they will spend some time visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Geary, and Mr, and Mrs. William Wagner. Mr. and Mrs. George Rowe and daughters, Blanche, Emma and Daisy spent Bunday at the home of William Bitner and family. Merchant C., W, Bwarlz has just erected a carriage shed and warehouse, while A. B. Lee is putting up what he calle an implement shed. It is so large, aud many are inclined to think it is for an opera house or town hall. Mrs. Catharine Runkle, of this place, has not been in her usual good health for the past week, but nothing serious has resulted. In spite of her eighty odd years, Mrs. Runkle has been able to perform many of her household duties assisted by her daughter, Mrs. sullivan, —— fp i, Rebersburg. Wilson ILeitzel and family who were visiting at this place returned to their home at DuBois. Mr. and Mrs, M. Gilbert and Harry McCool and family are at present visit- ing relatives at Beech Creek. Mr. jand Mrs. I. Freese, of Jude, Wisconsin, are visiting at the homes of Beott Btover and Fred Fehl. Vietor Brungart lost a valuable cow by death, the animal became bloated. Mr. and Mrs, Bid Krumwrine and Misa Della Weaver are at present mak- ing a two weeks visit at Allentown and Gettysburg sand other eastern points, Samuel Shaffer is at present visiting his two sons, at York. Jacob Winkelblech is at present making preparations to saw timber on the Frank Shultz timber tract, Cherles Bierly has been awarded the contract to build a, large and heavy concrete wall for Allen Keen, near Millheim. Last Sunday evening Rev. Bhowers preached a trial sermon in the Re formed church at this place, Last Monday three cows owned by Calvin Auman who resides near Wolfs Store were killed by a veter- inary surgeon. The animals were af- fected with tuberculosis, Colyer. Mr. and Mrs, G. M. Cooney and son George spent Bunday with friends in Mifflin county. Mr. and Mrs, Clifford Thomas left for New York, where they will spend sometime visiting friends and rela- tives, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Treaster, of Lewistown, spent a few days with friends at this place, and also =at- tended Grangers picnic. Mrs. Waite and daughter, of nea Wolfs Btore, speut a few days with her sister Mrs. Arthur Slutterbeck. Miss Anns Fohringer, of Northum- beriand, is visiting her mother, Miss Eva Fleisher returned home after spending the past year in New York. There was not a particle of disturbances in auy part of the town. There was almost total absence of drunkenness, and the behavior on the streets was in marked contrast to shat of former years, There were no indecent exposures on the streets, no drunken women to attract attention, no boys in their teens staggering drunk. There is a reason for all this good behavior on the part of thousands who came to Centre Hall, and the citizens of this town should not again be a party to aid in debsuching of the young, nor place temptation in the way of the more mature, If other ities think they must enntioue to tolerate places to dispenses intoxicants, let dear oe ent aa for n " pg ng oi Figo 1 T+ Pp DEATHS, Samuel Ilgen, one of Bugar Valley's best known citizens, died of tetanus, caused by an lvjury from a rusty nail, Anti-toxine was used, but no good re- sults followed. His age was seventy six years, A wife, two sons and two daughters survive. Interment waa made at Boonville, Rev, J. M. Rear- ick, of Balona, and Rev. Rose, of Loganton, oMeiating, M. R. Moyer, a former resident of Loganton, where he was reared, died at a sanitarium at Chicago, aged sixty- pine years. He was an invalid for a number of years, Deceased was =a brother of Bquire W. F. Moyer, of Lo- ganton, and wae a son of the late Dr, Jonathan F. Moyer. Joseph Foster McKibben, born in Centre county in 1824, died ip Free- port, Illinois, aged over eighty-six years, He and Mrs. McKibben, who died several years ago, moved from this county to Illinois about 1545 Eight children survive, sll located in the west, Mrs. Joseph B. Mingle, of State Col- lege,idied at the Bellefonte hospital, aged forty-two years. She was the daughter of Henry Norris, of Fill more. The husband and six children survive, Ioterment was made at Pine Hall. i a Moyer Farms Sold, The real estate of the late Joseph K, Moyer was sold at public sale on Saturday. The John Wolf farm was purchased by William Risbel, of Madisonburg, for $10,025, and the Kleckner farm, lying south of the Wolf farm, became the property of John Nevin Moyer, one of the heirs, at $4500 Among the bidders to the last on the Wolf farm were William R. Bray, of Freeland, whose wife is one of the heirs, and John Homan, of BSiate College.
