Andrew Jackson (Gardner, one of the oldest residents of Howard borough, died Thursday morning of last weak, after a short illness incident to old age. Mr. Gardoer was How- ard's best citizen, a good christian man, and one who will be missed in the home and church, He was aged eighty-seven years, two months and gix days, and is survived by the following children : Mra, KB. GQ. Shatt, of Kane ; Mra. R C. Leathers, at home; Wyckliff, of Pittsburg ; Mitchell L., of Bellefonte, and W. R, of Howard township, ou the young men who will begin farming next spring is George Sharer, son of Jacob Sharer, east of Centre Hall. Mr. Sharer has eased one of the Gordon farms, tenanted at present by a8 Mr. Sunday, snd owned by William Smeltzer, located about one mile east of Pleasant Gap, on the Zion road. Mr. Sharer was brought up on the farm, and knows the outs and ins in farm life. The Reporter pre- dicts for him a successful career as aD agriculturalist. Of course, he does not yet have that necessary help—a wife— on the farm, but he has engsgements between this and next spring that are nove that barrier, Sara, wife of George Kuhn, died at the home of her son, Elton, ou North Barnstd street, State College, Wed- nesday, of last week, aged seveoty- seven. The deceased was born in Fer- guson towpship, snd was united in marriage to George Kuhn, February 7, 1858 She is survived by her husband and son Elton.
