dobn Henry Mitted Deal. Johh Henry Millér, well known In Centre Hall, died very unexpectedly at his home in Millheim, early Friday morning, from an obstruction in the bowels. Interment was made in Mill- heim, Tuesday forenoon, Rev. W. D- nat, pastor of the Reformed church, officiating. His age was sixty-seven years, five months, seventeen days, Mr. Miller was in Centre Hall the day previous to his death, but returned home that night suflering with severe pains in his bowels, which continued to grow worse until death relieved him, He was a son of Capt, John Miller, and was born in Millheim. He was a veteran of the civil war, having served three years in Co. A, 148th Regiment, aud was made a sergeant, He is survived by a widow, nee Eliz. abeth Tobias, and the following children : Bandford D., Altoona; J. William, Jersey Shore: Bertie P., Millheim ; and Mayme, wife of And- rew Smith, Bhickshinny ; also two brothers in Illinois. DR. PEARSON DEAD Dr. Leonard Pearson, Htate Veterin- arian and head of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary, died at Spruce Cr ek, Newfoundland, Monday. He collapsed from an attack of heart failure, Dr, Pearson was well known throughout the state, and especially in Centre county. He frequently attend. ed the Grange Eucampment and Fair, at Centre Hall, having for number of years been a member of Progress Grange, the local order iu this place, —— tp nin Loganton School nouse Barned, The two story four-roomed school house in Loganton was destroyed by fire early Baturday morning. The fire was first discovered by Cornelius Kerstetter, and was observed to be on the second floor of the building. Be- fore the people were aroused from their slumbers the fire had gained such headway that the building could not be saved. The loss is estimated at $5000, with $1500 insurance. The origin of the fire is thought to have been incendiary.
