MEMORIAL DAY, The G, A. R. Have Perfected Arrangements for Observing the Day. The Samuel Shannon Post, G. A. R. met in their Post room last Saturday afternoon to perfect arrangements for properly observing Memorial Day, the 30th inst. The Post has its membership made up from surrounding towns in the val- ley, and on Memorial Day must deco- rate in many different cemeteries in order to do honor to all the heroes who have answered the last call, At Farmers Mills the services will be held at 9.30 o'clock in the morning, and at the Georges Valley cemetery at 3.30 in the afternoon. Spring Mills will decorate at 5.30 in the evening. The Potters Mills band will be present at these ceremonies to furnish the musie. Able speakers will be present to de- liver addresses suitable for the occa- sion, and a committee of the G. A. R. has been appointed to secure them. At Centre Hall the services will held in the evening, and the ceremo- ny promises to be more elaborate and impressive than usual. The Memorial sermon for the bene- fit of the G. A. R., will be delivered by Rev. A —— An Important Case Settled, The case of Mrs, Peters vs. the Bald Fagle Valley Railroad company was settled last week without going to tri- al, the company agreeing to pay the plaintiff $8,500, the costs and doctor's bill. Mrs. Peters had sued for $20,000 damages for injuries received at Snow Shoe intersection by being struck by the pay train about one year ago. - tila Rise in Beef, Beef has taken a jump along with the other cereals, and we are now pay- ing three cents a pound more than be- fore. Watchman. ~Subscribefor the REPORTRE, $1.50 MALICIOUS WORK, Some Miscresnt Cuts a Boggy and Harness to Pleces, Tuesday morning when Bquire Houseman, of Colyer, went to his barn he found that some person during the previous night had severed both shafts from his buggy, sawed several spokes out of each wheel, cut the top into shreds and otherwise damaged the bug- gy to the extent of its being almost worthless. The buggy was a good one and now ready for the serap heap. A short distance from the SBquire’s home lives David Young. Evidently the person had a small spite to eke out up- on David and paid him a visit too.
