THE STROLLER'S NET. Caught up on a Stroll-The Pick-ups by the Sidewalks. The once familiar figure of Johnny Nefl was again seen on our streets the other day after an absence of half doz- en years, his gait was familiar only evincing the hand of age that has put a decrepit move on his step. Mr, Neff is about to move back again to this his native place and will, no doubt, end his days in his old homestead—and may it be many days off yet before Time calls him away. The Stroller is pleased to note that many of eur townsfolk have pride enough to put their outdoor premises in trim and taste by a general cleaning up of rubbish from winter's leavings proving they have an eye to the good appearance of our town and their own homes in particular, Upon the whole there are few towns of the size of Cen- tre Hall in which the homes look sier, yards neater and premises more cleanly. CO- CLEANSE THE BLOOD, Purify the System of Catarrahal Impurities and Cure Is Certain, Spring time is the most favorable to the cure of Chronic Catarrh. Hun- dreds of letters are received, testifying to extraordinary cures. Wm. Mandel, of Sleepy Eye, Minn., writes: “I have been troubled with chronic eatarrh for thirty-five years and had tried nearly every ecatarrh cure known, until by accident I was advised by a friend to give Pe-ru-naa trial. In one week from the time I took the first dose I began to feel like a new man. I kept on using it for have no symptoms of chronic catarrh whatever. Iam 74 years of age and am sure Pe-ru-na is the best medicine I ever used and would not be without it in the house for anything.”’ The Pe-ru-na Drug Manufacturing Company of Columbus, Ohio, are off- ering free, post-paid, two medical books, one on Catarrh and Catarrahal The ladies of our town, as a general { thing, show a great deal of taste in the | cultivation of flowers, and we believe there is not a home in which these marks of refinement and a taste for | the beautiful in nature are absent. For an all-the-year-round display the win- | dows in Mrs. Minnie Richard's home always show out prettily for freshness and variety of its flowers. The Stroller also learns of a rumor that Prof. Krise and family, now liv- ing in Johnstown, intend moving back to this place again ; also that Pe- | ter F. Keller, who left this place some 18 years ago for Kansas, intends mov- ing back again to this his native place. This naturally sets the Stroller to mu- sing that persons who move away | from Centre Hall always find it a very | good place to move back to again. Coming across a live granger within sight of the pic-nic ground led to an | allusion to the coming pie-nie, and he | informed the Stroller the next grange | pic-nic would exceed any previous one in every department and in new fea- tures, with a lopping off’ of objectiona- ble fakir stands. He thought the new county fair movement was dead and that the grange encampment would | make such advances that another fair | could not gain good footing. —.,. ln tr Hanged Judss Iscariot, | The Greeks at Youngstown, Ohio, | with delegates from Beaver Falls, New | Castle and other cities, celebrated Eas- | ter in accordance with the orthodox | Greek church ceremonies. The remainder of the day was spent in festivities, clos- ing at dusk. ees es asian Making Preparations Jellefonte will be one hundred years old this year, and preliminary steps have been taken to celebrate the event in the most approved manner during | the month of June, A public meeting was held on Tuesday and committees | were appointed to make arrangements. | The celebration of their Centennial will be held on one day and the day | following the State Firemen’s Conven- tion will meet in session. Two days | of celebrating we are afraid will be too | much for the town on the hills and some of their citizens will be prostrate ed before it is over, ———————— A —— Singing Class, The singing class will meet this, Thursday evening, in the basement of | the Evangelical church.
