Was papers and Gephart | EE —— CNN FACTS WORTH REMEMBERING, During the dull times for business | and for the industries, very many the employers of labor here and else- where have striven to arrange things in the way most advantageous to the wage earners. In many men and women whose services could be dispensed with have been kept on the | pay roll, or put on short time, em- ployed for three or four of the days of the week, or set at other than their or- dinary vocation, so that they might | be enabled to earn the money for their subsistence. There are indus- tries that have been carried on at a loss in order that the people engaged in them might not be thrown out of work. There are establishments that have retained the usual number of salesmen and salesmomen, and other assistants, though their business had fallen off largely. There employ- ers of common labor who have done all they could do to help along the la- borers. “I cannot bear to discharge any of my hands in these times,” isa remark that was made last month by one man who has thousands of in his pay. There has been spread desire among the men to help the working people to tide over the hard times. There storekeepers beyond number who have not pressed their customers. The are landlords who have been lenient with their impecunious tenants. The whole of the business and in- dustrial community was in straitened circumstances for weeks; but even at the worst time there was a helpful dis position on the part of many employ- ers toward the men and Women their pay.—New York Sun. FARMERS BEWARE, of | cases or needed are hands a wide moneyed are re in Our good farmers will observe that since the repeal of the Sherman silver bill by the house, wheat has gone up five and six cents, and prospect of its continuing to rise. This proves that some of the dummies who have been talking 60 cent silver to the farmers know as little about that as some other things. Things have bad enough for farmers, but it is sad to see them misled by pretended lead- ers, who don’t have the capacity to teach them correct ideas. With the depreciated value of silver the man is insane who makes the farmer be- lieve he should be in favor of blessing the silver kings with 100 cents for 60 cents worth of silver, Farmers need to watch some of their pretended lead- ers—there is a nigger in the wood pile. et msi For a lame back or for a pain in the side or chest, try saturating a piece of | flannel with Chamberlain's Pain Balm | and binding it onto the affected parts, | This treatment will cure any ordinary case in one or two days. Pain Balm | also cures rheumatism. 50 cent bot- | tles for sale by J. D. Murray, Drug- | gist, about baen (Rf Notice.
