SPRING MILLS, D, H. Ruhl Selected as a Juror for the Su- preme Court at Pittsburg. Perhaps it don’t rain down here. Quite a number of our citizens went to Bellefonte on Tuesday to attend the election of county supgrintendent. The Epworth League had a historic- al duscussion of Pennsylvania last Tuesday night. Major Huss has gone to Cherry Run for two days and will bring all the trout in the stream along home with him. He is an expert at the bu siness, and woe to the fish that touches his bait. W. P. Alexander will attend the meeting of the Grand Castle of Penn- sylvania, at Lancaster, May 9th, as our representative of Centre Castle, K. of G. E, No. 169. Quite a number of our people have taken to the woods; not that the con- stable is after them but for the pur pose of peeling bark for F. K. Snyder. D. H. Ruhl has been selected by the U. 8B. Marshal, as a juror for the Su- preme court which convenes at Pitts- burg, May 9th; he will start Saturday. P. P. Long, of Potters Mills, was home lagt Sunday. He says business is booming up there, Since the recent heavy rains busi- ness has been lively in town; farmers have quit working in the flelds and many are seen in town during the day. Even the persons who are accustom- ed to go fishing for trout say that the catch is going to be small this year. re ff COBURN, Gold Excitement Still Continnes—Experi- enced Prospectors at Work, Jacob Witmyer and son Thomas spent Sunday at Sunbury Pa., with friends. Miss Kate Garthoff, of Bellefonte, spent a few days at this place last week | the guest of her brother. Mrs. Fry, of Lewisburg, was visit- ing friends in this vicinity a few days last week. H. 8. Braucht, a student in Medical department of the University of Pennsylvania is home on vacation. the | Our assessor, J. C. Stover having completed his labors, made his report | to the commissioners on Monday. i The majority of our school directors | were in attendance at the convention | on Tuesday to elect a county superin- tendent. Mr, George J. Meyer is still confined | to his bed, but at this writing is slow- ly convalescing. E.M. and J. K. Huyett have sold | | their large steam saw mill in the Nar- rows above Millheim, to Frank Cham- | berlin, who will move it to Pardee on | A. Leichtenwalter’'s timber land. Seven new members were added to | the Lutheran church at this place on | Sunday; two by confirmation and five by certificate. The gold excitement at Green Brier | still continues; there are nine experi- enced prospectors at work, and they are confident that they will be reward- | ed by a rich find of the precious metal. om — A —o > — Not Till Then. cease fo advertise 7 Yes, when trees grow upside down, when ice forms un- der sun, when our Johnny gets his gun, when the fish forget to swim, when the robins nest again, when the girls go back on gum, when the small | tooth, when cold water makes you drunk, when you like to smell a skunk, when the drummer has no when all these things come to pass— then the merchant who id wise may neglect to advertise, A Cholee Selection of Wall Paper, J. 8.
