The Best Advertising Mediam.
M. M. Gillam, advertising manager
for John Wanamaker, who has made
advertising a life study, says:
“For a general business |
there is but one perfect
advertising medium-—the newspaper.
No matter what the nature of the com-
munity is, if a paper has a chance at
the pole, it sorts them out as certainly
as if they had been put through a nen
tal sieve. The progressive, enterpris- |
ing, life-enjoying citizen, where-ever he
is, is always hungry in the head—he
rants a paper; he'll get one if he can.
The pinch-penny, slow-going, vester-
day man, the too poor or the too mean |
to buy, are never in the newspaper
procession. Put an advertisement
fore the readers of a paper,
take the cream of any population. You |
#0 straight home to the people who
¢an buy and are ready to buy.”

An Aged Man's Death,
Mr. Wesley another of
Bellefonte's aged citizens on Saturday
in his 93rd years. He was a plasterer by
trade, and in 1856 took the contract of
plastering the exterior of the court
house in Bellefonte, making an ex-
cellent job of it. As he advanced in
years he turned hisattention to garden-
ing, and became well-known as the
first man to raise early plarits and veget-
ables in this country.
About three years ago he became
lame from an ingrowing toe nail which
finally turned into gangrene. He was
compelled to have the leg amputated
to avoid death.

A Coasting Accident,
A party of coasters Thursday night
at Bellefonte at the foot of the hill
near the Bush House, crashed into a
hotel omnibus, and one of the party,
Miss Mollie Gill, had her thigh broken
in the collision. The sled was shatter
ed to pieces and the merrymakers
about ten in number, were all consider
ably bruised, though Miss Gill was
the only one sustaining serious injury.
