inarew Hanter, a farmer living five
miles out from Reynoldsville, Jefferson
county, has just turned the century
mile § in life and hundreds assisted
in celebrating the event. This patriarch
took up his home in the Beechwood's

day's labor with the young men of the
farm just as he always did.
George R, Green, a noted colored out-

valuable river front property on Dela

streets. The railroad company has no
use for the property at present, but the
directors abcided to buy it as a pre.
cautionary measure. In the foture the
company may want to use it as a wharf
for its floats, and it will be valuable in
the event of the construction of a belt
line,
The thirty-ninth annual Schuylkill
county fair closed after a very successful
week, notwithstanding that rain fell on
the two last days. A serious accident
occurred to Jeremiah Smith, an elderly
man, who attempted to cross the race
course as a trotting horse came along.
He was knocked down, and the wheels
assed over him. Blood oozed from both
his ears, and it was found that he had
sustained conenssion of the brain. His
injuries will probably prove fatal.
A party of New York capitalists have
been in Wilkesbarre for some days past.
Their intention is to get control of all
the street car lines in that city, So far
as can be learned from trustworthy
sources, they have secured options on a
majority of the stock in the Suburban
Electric railway. The design is to com-
bine them under one corporation and
management, and erect an electric plant
which will supply the motive power for
the entire system. It is said the parties
