Hambert, of this place, pastor of the Lutheran congregations at Lobachs- ville and Hill church, Berks county, is at present a victim of what some con- sider persecution. Recently both conm- gregations voted him out and elected Kev. Warmkessel, a young preacher, in his place. The synod, however, sus- tained Humbert, and Sunday he pro ceeded to Hill church to hold services. It was rumored that the church doors would be locked against him and he would not be permitted to enter. He obtained entrance without opposition and preached, but his audience did not number over thirty persons, while more than 100 people were outside and would not enter.
