In last week's Reporter we ealled at- tention to the large increase in travel be- tween Lewisburg nd Bellefonte since the construction of the railroad, com- pared with the travel in the days of the slow, lnmbering stage coach. Now people move west by rail and reach their destination in from 24 to 48 hours. Years ago a wagon was firted out with all the vecessaries for camping on the way and the time required was several weeks, and the older readers of the Reporter can re- member seeing strings of wagon trains, bound for the west, passing throogh our valley. This brings to our recollection an incident that occurred at Aarousburg over 40 vears ago, That village in that day was somewhat noted for the manu. facture of wool hats, principally by Dan iel Spyker and his sons.
