«The other Monday afternoon Rev.
F. Adams, of Port Royal, and Rev, Ham,
of Liverpool, started for Johnstown in &
buggy drawn by Mr. Adam's young
horse, to participate in a preaching ser-
vice. They had only gone a short dis-
tance when one end of the shaft came
loose and struck the beast on the heels,
which frightened her and she com-
menced to ran. Mr, Adams attempted
to ran the horse into the fence with the
hope of checking her speed, but she
shied off, and the buggy coming in con-
tact with the fence was upset and the oc-
capants thrown out. Mr. Adams was
bruised about the forehead and sustain.

club and the Boalsburg club had a match
game on the latter's ground, Saturday
afternoon. Kreider and Harris formed
the battery for Bellefonte and (Gibson
aud Kuhn for Boalsburg. A number of
spectators were present. The game Was
tolerable, ome good plays made on both
sides and as many more errors, Part of
eight innings were played, and the score
was read 6 to 15 in favor of Bellefonte.

a new schedule for the trains was sent

The matter however failed to reach us

The Walchman says Bellefonte is
to have a large iron fornace to be built
in what is now the fair ground. The
parties in the new business venture are
{#en. Beaver, Robert and George Valen-
tine, . G. Bush, Wm. P. Duncan, W. A.
Jenkins, and others. The capital stock
will be $250,000 about $200,000 ¢f which
has already been taken.
~The Presbytery of Huntingdon
will hold its next state meeting in the
East Kishacoquiilas Presbyterian church,
near Reedsvilie, Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 2 o'-
clock p. m. This Presbytery includes
| the counties of Centre, Mifflin, Juniata,
Huntingdon, Bedford. Blair and Ciear-
field and numbers fifty ministers and
seventy churches,

SPRING MILLS ITEMS,
Spring Mills was surprised by the
marriage of Miss Rose Kennelly to Mr.
Frank Tresher, of Centre Hall,
The potato business is lively. Two car
loads were shipped last week, one by
Mr. Hendricks and one by G. R. Bpigle-
myer, The latter will ship one or two
car loads this week. The potato crop is
a big one and of a good quality.
Bradford and Fortuey are engaged in
the plastering business, John Coldron
is busy at work completing the founda-
tion for his new house.

Lottie Spiglemyer is visiting friends at
Mifilinburg. Mrs. Woods is very sick
aud not expected to recover, Calvin
Runkle left for Philadelphia on Monday
where he intends reading medicine. The

CONVICTS WHO TRADED CLOTHES,
Hearne, Tex., Sept, 22,~Ten convicis
escaped from the plantation of William
Hearne, in Brazos Bottom, yesterday
morning, by entting through the roof of
the prison house. They made their way
to town and entering the Montgomery
bouse while the guests were sleeping

cal Company, leaving the convicts’ suits
