Media, May 5.—A large meeting of
Republicans to protest against boss rule
was held bere to-night. William Rhodes,
of Newton, presided. Speeches denun-
ciatory of the bosses were made by a
number of well-known citizens and Gen.
Beaver was practically attacked for his
‘wanagement of the Agricultural Col-
ege,
The resolutions adopted are very long
Fhey protest against the nomination of
Beaver, because he is the personal ses
lection of Senator Cameron, made in his
interest; because Beaver misrepresented
ihe people of Pennsylvania in the Chi-
cago Convention; because Lis relations
tog the Agricultural College will drive
tim from the farmer's vote; because his
nomination will endanger party success,
Lt was further resolved that the protests
applied to all whose names may be rep
resented as nominees in the interest of
Cameron, for the purpose of keeping
him in power. The resolutions further
declare abhorence of Cameaon’s political
methods and rule, founded as it is on
minority county representation, trick~
ery and manipulation, unscrupulous use
of patronage, and the only hope for the
Republican party is in the complete sur-
render of these methods,
