Mr. Jonathan Harter, of Millheim, says
the Journal. At aboutone o'clock in the
night, Mr. Harter, who sleeps up stairs,
heard an unusual noisa below. He
quickly and quietly went down a flight
of steps that enter the kitchen and tr ed
to open the door rien but the creaks
ing of the hinges, he thinks, must have
frightened the burglars, who made a
hasty flight. Mu, Harter found the win-
dow hoisted and securely fastened with
a chisel that was tightly stuck between
the sash and frame, no doubt to leave
an easy retreat for the robbers in case of
emergency. On looking out he saw two
men walking the street, but made no at-
tem pis to go after them.
~All the houses in Bellefonte have
been taken up, which indicates a revis
val of trade there, which we are pleased
to note. The most crowded quarter is
the Philad Branch clothing hall, where
Lewins puts out bundles of clothing to

it the “regulator,” and some of the older
folk sngely remark that if this down-
ward tendency continues “we will yet
et goods absolutely for nothing at the
New Cash Store.”
—8echler & Co. are now in full blast
for the spring trade. They are provid-
ed with a new stock of everythingin the
line of groceries in season, and the best
the market affords. It is an important
matter to have every article of groceries
used in the family pure and unadultera-
ted. Much sickness is often caused in
families where proper regard is not had
to this fact, Nothing will cause a disor-
dered stomach sooner than impure, ad
ultereted and unwholesome food—from
these spring fevers, aches and pains.
When you make a purchase at Bechler's
you run no risk in the quality of the ar
ticle you get, as they never permit trash
to enter their store, and warrant all they
sell you.
