The following very important law pas* !

Section 1. That aay person liable t< i

any fruit, shade or forest trees of suitabb
,iz". shall bo allowed by the Supervisor of
roads, where roads run through or adjoin
cultivated folds, an abatement of his road
lax, one dollar for every four trees set out; t
hut no row of elms shall be aearer than ;
- evenly feet, no row of maples or other
forest tiees nearer tha* lltty feet, except '
iocu*t. which may he set thirty feet apart; <
and no alluwance, as before mentioned,
shall be made unless such tree* shall havei,
been set out the vear previous to the de
mand for such abatement, and are liviag '
and arc well protected from animals nt '
the time of such demand.
Src "2. Any trees transplanted to the
iide of tho public highway as aforesaid, in
the place oi trees which have died, shall
bo allowed for in the same manner and on
the same conditions as in the previous sec
tion.
SEC. 3. No person shall BO allowed an
abatement of his highway tax as aforesaid
mere than one quarter of hi- anaual high
way lax, arid no one shall receive an
abatement ef lax for trees planted previ
ous to the pa-sago of thi* act.
SEC. 4 Any person who shall cut down,
kill or injure any living tree planted Ml
' afore-aid, shall pay to the supervisor ofl
road.* as aforesaid, fifty cents for each and
; every tree cut down, killed or removed, j
and ta be collected as other taxes are now j
collected.
