On his way home on Sunday night he drank I lie laudanum, when he entered the house he told his wife what lie had dune, command ing her not to send for a physician. He became unconscious and never rallied, al though a physician was in attendance all night Hefferman was one of Juniata's bost-knowu citizens and a prominent Odd Fellow. I'M w a id Weaver, a jrominent farmer of the extreme eastern point of Cei.tre county, on Thursday of l-tst, week met with one of the most horrible accidents on record. He was driving with a grain drill to sow oats. The team of horses be came frightened and ran away. Weaver was thrown under the drill and d rigged a quarter of a mile. Neighliors ran to the scene and extricated tin' unfortunate man from the drill. When taken out it was found that his clothing had been almost entirely torn away, wliile his w hole liody was sti'i rihly lacerated, great chunks of lli-sh being torn from his face and limbs, and his arms entirely stripped to the bone, though, strange il appears, not a hone was broken. Weaver still survives, hut it may hi- necessary to amputate both arms, and even if not. llie man will be a criople all his life. William Wlliams. of pine F-'tats, In diana county, is said to have recently dis covered the loss of a sum of money which represented his savings for vcars. The stolen money consisted of JI.'.hm) in gold coin, mostly in N) pieces. It was secreted in a tiox, together with some bills. Mr. Williams kept the box in his lied room, and had not opened it for months until one day recently, when he made the discovery of his big loss. When the last deposit of money was made in tin- box. the bills were carefully tied and placed in the bottom and the gold coin teflon lop. but when he opened it the ot her day the bills were ly ing loose and the only gold coins left were a live and two and one half. Mr Wil liams has no clue to the thief, and the rob bery may have been committed some time ago.
