the load is to he completed from P.edford
to McKee's. The grading between these
two points is about completed, and. though
the road has no rolling stock, it could
easily be linished and (-tjuipped with the

that there is a possibility of a deal with
the Pennsylvania railroad whereby the
road w ill be made an outlet f r tnflic, the

Micyclers are naturally interested in the
subject or good roads, as their light ve
hicles are sensitive to imperfections over
which a more stoutly built carriage would
pass with little or no notice, and in various
states they are trying to influence legisla
ti.n on the subject. In Pennsylvania the
League of American Wheelmen has taken
up the subject and has given official en
dorsement to the McQuown bill, other
wise known as the Hamilton Good Roads
bill, which provides for the maintenance
and repair of roads by township supervis
ors, under the auspices of the Secretary of
Agriculture. The association considers
tiiis bill well calculated to secure the ob
ject aimed at, and as this U the opinion of
men who have studied it from a practical
standpoint, instead of a political one, it is
entitled to much weight.
Male t racked at Lilly.
Alioiit 3 o'clock on Tuesday morning
burglars effected an entrance to the store
of Joseph Kainey, in Lilly, by removing a
pane of glass from a front window. After
getting in they rolled the safe into the
wareroom and broke it open by a charge of
dynamite.
The safe contained five hundred dollars
in gold which the burglars secured and
then took a hasty departure. Several
people living close by, who were aroused
by the explosion, saw two men leaying the
premises, but. by the time they could dress
and get out, the burglars had gotten out of
sight.
