The "drivers" at Ilobertsdale slope struck on Tuesdav because one of their number had a different mule todrive. and the slope has been closed since that time. Leroy Harris, a youn Phu-nix tele phone lineman, met with an aicidciiiin Allooiia on Monday morning which wi I render him a cripple for life. He was mounting a sixty foot pole at the alley lornerofthe I'liu-nix block on Kleventh street by means of spikes driven into the pole at regular intervals, and when above the lirst cross bar, about thirty feet above the pavement, he slipped on one of the icy spikes and was precipitated to the street. In falling he made futile efforts to catch the .spikes and sprained his wrist. Harris landed on his feet. The impact with the pavement shattered his r'ght knee cap and will make him a rripplo for life. A liga ment of his knee is also injtirec. When Gover nor Curtin was appointed minister to Kus sia, Mr. Coffey was appointed Secretary of Legation and accompanied Mr. Curtin to Russia. After his return he practiced law in Washington until about ten years ago w hen he retired to enjoy an ample fortune which he had acquired. For several years he has he has spent the summer seasons in this place and a couple of years ago he purchased a commanding piece of ground on the outskirts of the town on which he erected one of the lines I summer resident cs in the neighborhood and which he expect ed to occupy the conr.ng summer, lie is rvived by his wif and one daughter, Mrs. John Chew, of Washington.
