About" o'cloek Mr. Horner heated a brick, w lii-h he was in the habit of put ting at the foot of his bed, and started to retire. After he had partially undressed iu his bedroom, the report of a revolver was heard by his w ife, who hastened to his room and found him lying on the floor trapping for breath, the revolver being tightly clutched in his right band. He died in a few minutes aud a jury fin- pannelled by Coroner Martin fouud "That Jonathan Horner came to his death by di-chargi ng a revolver in his own hands. the barrel being in his mouth when it was dischai ged." Mr. Horr.er was a native of Johnstow n, aged M years and is survived by a wile. three daughters, four sous one sister aud four brothers. Anathrr Hirdtr, On Mondav moruing about 12:30 Frank Visler. a Hungarian miner, went to the boarding house of Andros Melany.at Ben's Breek, stabbed and almost instantly killed Melany. He died in five minutes after being slabbed, the weapon entering be-twe-en the third and fourth ribs. Melauy was 23 year's old aud was employed by the Sonuiau Shaft Coal company, and leaves a wife and one child in lluugary. The mur derer who was aged about 26 years made his escape. Coroner Martin, of Cone maugh. was notified and went to Ben's Creek at 1 P. aud, after impanueling a jury, witueses were examined and the following verdict was rendered: I hat Andros Melany came to bis death from wounds received from a knife io the hands of Frank Visler." At the livery stable Grocast took no paius to conceal a large sum of mouey he had Iu his pockets, and some of his friends now fear that he has been enticed away, robbed, and murdered. Died at his home, the Central Hotel, in Kbei.stnirg. on Friday luurning, November 1st, lS'.C, Mr. Patrick F. Brown, in the 43 year of his age. Mr. Brown was born in Johnstown on June 25, ls."3, he being the seventh of a family of seven children. His mothei, who is seventy-eight years old, was mar ried to Henry Brown in 1323, and in the fall of 1370, when the deceased was seven teen years old, his parents moved to Cam bria lownship. where they lived until l3'.."i. They then moved back to Johnstown, leaving their sons Joseph aud Patiick on the Cambria towuship farm, and they con tinued to reside in Johnstown until -1373, when they moved to Wllimre, where tae father Henry Browu died, at the age of eighty-four years. Iu Issl the subject of this sketch moved into the Central Hotel, Ebensburg, of w hich he became proprietor, aud in w hich, with the excep tion of one year, he remained until his death. Ou January 13. 1377, Mr. Brown was married to Charlotte O'Hara. aud to this uuiou were bom seven children, two of them dying in infancy. His wife died Oc tober 22, 1S33, and after five years of single life, Mr. Brown united in marriage with Matilda McKens:e, in 13J3. To this sec ond wife, who survives him, were born two children. He is survived by seven child ren: Victoria, aged eighteen years; May, fifteen; Hugh, thirteen; Conrad, eleven; Reardon, eight; Harry, one year and ten months, and Sheldron, live months. Be sides these he is survived by his aged mother, who lives in Wiluiore; two broth ers Joseph and Henry the former re siding iu Ebensburg, the latter in Morrell ville, and two sisters Mrs. David Gates, of Lower Yoder, and Mrs. Andrew Sar louis, of Johnstown. Two Sisters Mrs. Adotphus Jones aud Mrs. Johu Hilemau prec-jded him to the grave. Mr. Brown was born of Catholic parents, and he was. till the time of his death, a consistent member of that church. He was a kind sou to his mother, a loving husband aud father to his family, and to all who knew him a true friend, obliging neighbor, and a true citizen. His funeral took place at half-past ten o'clock on Mouday morning, his remains being taken to the Catholic church in this place, where, after a Requiem Hitth mass, they were iuterred iu the Catholic cemetery.
