Moiintaindale. l'a.. April 3, lj.-. A geological student was out near the hotel that was recently granted license and took a photograph of the boulders that abound there. These boulders may he a areat source of annoyance to intoxi cated persons who frequent that hotel, but to a student of neology they are of ijreat inn-rest. Ueoloirists studied these boulders many year. They knew that they did not belong to the regions they are now found, but came from the northern part of the continent. Mow they were conveyed was a puzzle to many scientists. It was Prof. Aitassiz that solved the prob lem and it gained him groat fame. He assribed it to a great moving sheet of ice that moved from the nort h to t he south and distributed these boulders where they are now founil. The student say s the t.oalders found near the hotel are the largest exam ples he has found in the state. Mike Sch. '11, tiie landlord at Lloydsvilte. has been sold out by the constable. A remarkable instance of canine devo tion and faithfulness was developed at the in.iiest held a few days ago upon t he body of (i.-orge Martin, aged '. years, who was fatally hurt near Klizal-th. Alle gheny county. Young Maitiu and his mother, accompanied by the dog. had gone to a sugar camp nearly a mile from their home. Mrs. Martin got a nail of sugar water and returned, leaving the boy to follow at his leisure. The youngster found an empty nilro-glycerine can and threw it on a tire that was burning in the the woods. He poked the can with a stick and the nitro glycerine clinging to it ex ploded. The boy was badly mangled and his alidoincn was tori, so that the buwels protruded. The little fellow caught hold of the dog's collar and pulled himself up so that he could clasp llie animal about the neck. Thus supported he was paitly dragged, partly carried all the way home. Little Martin lingered for a week, and during that time the dog remained in tiie room, hardly taking time to ea. With his front paws resting on the tied he laid his head gently on his little master's breast, and w hen the hoy died the faith ful brute refused 'o leave and had to U dragged out.
