Miss Mattie llalley, agi-d 1 1 years, who has lieen visiting at the home of Mr. Well KnepM-r, in ISrot hersvalley township, met with a serious accident last Sunday a week ago and her relatives entertain fears that it may yet terminate fatally. Miss llalley and a little daughter of Mr. Knep-r's wen- returning home from Her I in in a buggy, when th- former, in attempting lo release the lines which had become entan gled in the harness, fell forward in the road, lighting on her head. The horse continued on tow ard Jiome until it w as stopiied by persons living along the road, who were attracted by the cries of the child still in the buggy. Kelurniiig to the scene of the accident they found Miss llalley lying by the side of the road in a delirious condition. She w as removed to the house of M r. Kncpper w here medical attention was summoned. A report leached here Monday that Miss llalley had apparently expired. A fter all efforts to revive her had lxen made hy physicians and had failed, prepa rations were- made for burial. She was laid out and the undertaker was exjiected to place the body in a casket for shipment to Cumberland. Ilefore he, arrived the w atchers noticed a twitchingof the eyelids and presently she aroused, although still unconscious. The physicians were again summoned and treatment for her recovery liegan. They express their opinion that she will only live a short time. SoiiirrMct llcmld. The boys w ill soon take their annual tumble from the chestnut trees. Dwelling Barned. (in Siimlxv evenine the large frame dwelling house of Evan Morgan, in Karr township, aixiut ? miles uortti of Ltn-ns burg, was discovered to be on fire by some of the neighbors who had hurried to the scene, but too late to prevent the burning of the building or to rescue much cf the personal cffcts contained there! u. Tho lire occurred between five and six o'clock iu the evening, and as Mr. Morgan and his family were away from home at the time visiting some neighbors, the ori gin of the tire is a mystery, but it is thought to be the work of an incendiary, w ho. perhaps, had visited the home for the Dtirposeof robU-ry. Considerable g xxls and furniture were carried out of the cellar and lower story, but everything on the second floor was burned. Mr. Morgan's loss is estimat.-d at about fl..Vl on which there was no Insur ance. It is Mr. Morgan's intention to be gin rebuilding at once and for that pur pose has already some lumlx-r on the gron nd. 51 Inrrlliuroai Xotlrea. 1 s,tklioMer' annual meetlnir of the Lilly Kulldlnv at.d Ionn ArMiatlon will be hrr.l In Km' Hall on the lhlrd ThurmJay In Oc oher . , , . . ., .... ... nciierai iranoaciloa .! tiu llieri an 1 election ol ulttcri to aerre lor the enau inn year, and lulling of (be Ufb vrii.-s of stuck 'l . .-su.rj.
