On Saturday morning about two o'clock, fire ws discovered In the large steam mill and machine shop of Mr. William Cole, in Carroll township. The fire had made such headway before It was discovered, that the flames were breaking tbrourh the side of the building and the east wind was rapidly driving the flames toward the dwelling which soon caught, and together with the mill was entirely consumed. The family barely made their escape, saving nothing but their clothing and a few bed clothes. There was a larte amount of valuable machinery In the mill and the loss Is a heavy one to Mr. Cole, who has been for so:no time financially embarrassed. The loss is estimated at from eight to ten thou sand dollars and we learn that there was no insurance. The fire Is supposed to have caught bet ween the boiler and the side of the building and bnrned slowly until It got through the siin of the building, when. fanned by the wind it spread and became unimnageble before Its discovery.
