Her husband, Peter Christy, a most excellent and highly respect ed citizen, died ten or twelve vears ago in Loretto, where he had resided from the time he started as a young man in the pursuits of life. The deceased was a devout and exem plary member of the Catholic church, and as a wife and mother possessed in an eminent degree all the ennobling virtues that consti tute a good and sincere Christian woman. Stie was the mother of eight children, of whom are living Sister Paula, who for seven teen years has been Mother Suprior in the Order of Sisters of Mercy, Mrs. Bntler. Mrs. Bonner. Dr. S. Graham and Allen, performed one of the mo't difficult operations known to modern surgery on a child of Simon (int wait, of Susquehanna township, this county. On Sunday the 2d lust., the little fellow was playing with an empty cartridge shell three fom ths of an inch in length bv three-eighths of an inch in width, it suddenly slipped from his tongue and entered his windpipe, pro ducing a severe fit of strangulation. For six days it remained lodged in 'his windpipe, producing many and severe paroxysms of suffocation. Several physicianssaw him and many speculations were indulged in as to the exact locality of the missile and as ti the feasibility of its removal during life. On Friday evening last its father took the child to Altoona to consult. Dr. Buck, who located the foreign body and by cutting open the windpipe and inserting a long pair of forceps to the extreme lower end of the windpipe drew forth the copper shell. A long sign of grateful relief escaped the spectators who witnessed the operation when thev saw that the brave little fellow was saved. "The oper ation is known as tiachentomv.
