One usy I had been reading in a 1 """R nun ?jnieis iiiuiui; iu gei nieii webs across streams and roads, and from the top of one tall tree to anoth er. I took a stick alout eighteen inch es in length and fastened a piece of iron aS one end of it, so that the stick would stand on that end itself. Then I put that stick in the centre of a large tub half lull of water, and placed the spider on the top of the stick. Another wonderful cave Las recently been discovered near Glasgow Junction, Ky. It lias already been explored for a , distance of twenty tliree miles in one diiec tioli, called the long route, and sixteen miles in another direction, called the t.hort route. 1 lie avenues aie very wiile ; a t-. . . . r v. . , .. Ior lotitteen miles, until the pasa?t s hecome too narrow to ad m it a bout. I I.i form the ihud r river route, which Las to lie explored in a boat. The cave is wonderful beyond descrip tion, and fr stu pusses iu grandeur the Mammoth or any cave ever before dis covered. Several mummified remains have been discoveied in one of the l.o;e rooms. They weie itjaising in fctone coffins, rudely const i nclen, a.id from appcarai.cca may have been in itiscave fur centuries. They present every appearance of the Egyptian mummies. Great excitement prevails over this very important discovery. Mr. Edwin .M.irti more, of ( ;iiestuut. stteet, Louisville, Ky., purchased three of the mummies, and has them now in his possession. Major George M. Proctor, of .Glasgow Junction, Ky., purchased the remainder of the mummies, from the owner ot the cave, Thomas Kel ley. The iaiter is, or lather was a few days ago, a very poor man, struggling to make a payment on a farm of Iweiity-lour acres, npun which, by mere accident, the entrance to this wonderful cave was dis covered, lie obtained about $100 for the mummies, aud is now oilered $10,000 cash for the cave. The entrance to the cave is within the to.vn limits, and is only about two minutes' walk from the depot, which makes it veiy valuable indeed, as visitors will not bo compelled to travel five miles iu a state coach, as they do if desirous of visiting the Mammoth Cave, which is five miles from this town. In fact all the celebrated caves of Kentucky are in this immediate vicinity. The surface is very much broken, full of gte.a, elevations and depressions, with everyiiimg to maicate mat mere were vol- eavels of the The newly discovered cave has been named the Grand Crystal Cave, and is as neautiiul as us name iir.pl.ts. Ladders and biidges are being constructed, and Mr. J. 11. Flunkelt, a capitalist of the town, an nounces his intention of having a small steamboat constructed expressly for the purpose of navigating its wonderful rivers. Cincin nati Commercial.
