The current num ber of the Hollidaysbnrg l'orfstitr recounts a little speculation in horseflesh much more cute than commendable. Thus runs the story : Charles Hewlt, liveryman, has a horse that our friend John Kobesou, of the Loop, would n rp in own, ami nas several nun s tried to ha gain for. hut without success. On Tuesday of imsi wecK. a oung uerman. came to t lie livery stable to hire a horse to go to ,V illi.i insbn nr, He represented to Charley that he lived over the hill In Shantytown and Charley let him have ihe horse. While Charley was Inking h snooze, n few hours after. Mr. Kobeson rode up tn town, and proceeded to the stable, nnd calling Charley our, stared that ho now had a horse that he tielicvcd would suit him, nnd that he thought Iheyco'ild make a trioli and that he should coir.e and look al him. Charly look ed, admired, and replied. "Ves, he docs suit me. 1 always liked that horse!" itobesnti in quired what he meant. Charley then gave him a little history of how he hired that horse that morning. It ttppr-nrs the young trail proceeded lo Kohcsnu's and tr.iocd wiih that gentleman for a bay hore, receiving three dollars boot. He then rode to Mr. Arch. MtVudden's. Franks town, and sold that gentleman the saddle ami bridle, for three dollars. He then Told Mr. Mo Fad Icn that he had business in the neighbor hood, and requested permission to leave his horse in his stable till the next day, wioh was granted. Kobeaen found his horse, llewit got his- and McPaddcti and Itohcsoi each lost three dollars and the young scamp, whoever he was, inado enough to lake him to other pastures, where he may fleece more unsuspecting livery men, lumbermen and farmers.
