Dr. McEwen, formerly of Johnslown, bur, more recently of Altoona, has got him self into "close papers" by marrying a second wife in the latter city while his first wife was and still is Hying in Johnstown. A brother of the first wile, went to Altoona on Monday last to interview the Doctor on the subject, but when he got there he learned that his much married brother-in-law had gone to Johnstown, where be remained long enough to find out that his perfidy had been discovered, whereupon he took the train and left for parts unknown. Condign punish ment is threatened him, hot the presumption is that he will not be exterminated before he is caught. Some time sgo, a man named Turner, a loss on tho Tyrone and Clearfield Hailroad , became intimate with a certain Mrs. Waple, a married woman, who lived with her bus band, a laborer on the railroad, in Wallar-e-ton, a station on said road. As a result, Waple was falsely accused by Turner of ob structing the railroasl, and was convicted and imprisoned. Turner then married Mrs. Waple and agreed to pay her $1,000 in ban I and 5100 per year. As the first part of this agreement was not. complied with, she threatened Turner that she would expose him. Shortiv afterwardsslie was found dead in the woods'ationt a mile from Wallaceton, having been killed with a shot gun. We ueeply regret to announce the death of the gentleman above named, which sad event took place iu the Iowa asylum for the insane at Davenport, in that State, on Wednesday, March 2Hih, tho deceased being then in iho 6:5.1 year of his age. About three years ago his mind became affected to such an alarm ing extent that his son-in-law was obliged to remove him from Johnstown to the asylum referred to, where his mental disease could be properly treated, and as it was hoped eventually overcome, though, as the sequel shows, without effect. Mr. Crotise resided in Johnstown for nearly forty years and was particularly well known throughout tho county. He was engaged at different times in various pursuits, and for a considerable period prior to 1Ho3 held the position of As sistant Superintendent of the old Portage Hail lload. His wife, whose mental facul ties were also a flee led, died at Mercy Hos pital, Pittsburgh, about four years ago.
