One of our subr-criticrs informs us that about a week ago, a lniy named Connor, of Susquehanna township, agetl about twelve years, with his dog started in pursuit of "coons." Coming upon tracks of what he supposed to he one, he followed them for some distance, and litiallj treed the animal. Leaving the dog to watch at. the tree, he went home anil procured an axe with which to fall the tree. Jteturmiig to the place, he went to work and was not long in gelling the tree down ; the animal, which proved to be a very large wildcat, growling at him ferociously all tho while. The tree fell autl the dog made the attack, but the wildcat proved too powerful, when tho little fellow w ent to the assistance ot his dog and the w ildcat turned on hiin, but by kicking he succeeded in keeping the animal off until tho dog again renewed the attack.
