Spread it on kidleuther the size of the corns, and in two dava they 1 be drawn ou Ia-ahy tin-ware is easily and quickly mended by hammering a fcpike, from soft lead, to fill the hole, ut oil each eide, and rivet down I; i vets of soft iron or other metal may be used to mend iron kettles, etc. Clt.e fob Neuiulgia. Ilalf a drachm of sal-ammonia in one Ounce of camphor-water, to be taken a t'aspoonful at a dose, and the dose repeated several times, at intervals of five minutes, if the pain be not relieved at once. Galget in cows making milk thick and full of singe may be cured by giving saltpeter in quantities as large as a hickory nut in a mess of bran or meal. Jn fifteen years I never knew it to fail by giving three J or iour umes in as many clays. Relieving Cuoked Cattle. Take a quart junk-bottle fiilled with watery raise the animals head and pour it down, and the obstruction is at once removed ; nor is there torture of pulling out the tongue. The same is good for horses choked with oatc. Dj;ii:i) Fm jT, it is said, put awav with a little sassafras bark (sav a large handful to a bushel) will save for years unmolested by those trou blesome little insects which so often destroy hundreds of bushels in a season. The remedy is cheap and fcimple. Geeasixg Griddles. To grease griddles for baking, rub ha!f a turnip over the griddle. It answers the same purpose and does not emit the disagreeable smell usually occasioned by rubbing with grease. So says a correspondent of the Country Gentleman. Soke Throat. Soak a small piece of bread, about the size of a hazel nut, and then take a pinch of Cayenne jepper : mix and roll up in the form of a pill, which the pa tient must swallow, when in about three hours he will be relieved from all pain. A second dose may be requisite in a severe case, but it has never been known to fail. Fuu PjiESEKvixo Milk. If milk be introduced in to bottles, put into a pan with cold water, and gradually raised to a boiling point, and after being allowed to cool, be taken out, corked, and set away in a cool pk-ee, it may be preserved prefect ly sweet for half a year. The reason' is iaid to be that he.it deprives the hurar of its power of changing into lactic acid. Set a pitcher of water in a room, and in a few hours it will have ab sorbed all the respired and perspired gates in the room, the air of w hich will have become purer, but the water utterly filthy. The colder he water is, the gre. tcr the capaci ty to contain these gapes. At ordi nary temperatures a pail of water will eontain a pint of carbonic acid pas, and several pints of ammonia. The capacity is nearly double bv reducing the water to the tempera ture of ice. Hence, water kept in the room a while is always unfit for use. For the same reason the water irom a pump should always be pumped out in the morning before and of it is used. Impure" water is more injurious than impure air. NEW ADVERTISEMENTS.
