W. H. Mitchell, Dentist, Emporium.
Mrs. Mitchcl and daughter
Ethel, of lluosiac Falls, were the guests
of Mrs. K leu Mason the past week.
Matilda Nieniillcr, of St. Marys, is the
guest of YVm. Bagley and wife.
Mrs. Mildred Sprung and son were
called to Sizervilie, Friday, ou account of
the illness of the hitter's grand-mother
Mrs. Win. Sprung. Hut she was dead
on their arrival.
The Ladies Aid Society met at the
M. E. Church Friday.
Bell Simpson, of Renovo, was the guest
of Lulu Lewis the past week.
Carlton Smith returned home the past
week from a weeek's visit at Ridgway.
Kathryn May is visiting relatives at
Williamsport this week.
On Thursday night of last week there
was a heavy frost killing the tomatoes
and buckwheat on Chapman
Hill and also at the tannery about \ of a
mile from here. Nothing was injured
here.
Alice Strawbridge returned home Fri
day from a two weeks visit at Johnson
burg and Ford City.
Xuienia Brooks left Sunday for Em
porium where she expects to teach this
winter.
Mrs. Eddy, of St. Marys, was the
guest of' her son Thomas Eddy the past
week.
Grover Mason was a Renovo visitor
the past week.
George Chapman who is in feeble
health reached his 91-th birthday Tues
day.
Clara Stewart, of Driftwood, is visiting
friends in town this week.
George O'Keefe left this week to at
tend the State Normal School at Lock
Haven.
The Thimble Society met at the home
of Mrs. Laura Smith's Thursday. They
served ice cream for refreshments.
Mary and Mamie Fredette, of Em
porium were guests of John Neenan and
wife Sunday.
J. A. Diee was called to Renovo Tues
day.
Mrs. H. P. Spcnco returned home Fri
day from a week's visit with her son at
Emporium.
Mrs. D. E. Spangler, of Kane, was a
visitor between trains Thursday.
Audra Lord, of Hicks Run, was a
visitor in town the past week.
The Sterling Run base ball team play-

Bert Tanner and daughter Vera, of
Mason Hill visited Niagara Falls Tues

Mrs. Martha Smith returned home

wood, were the guests of the former's
parents John Anderson and wife Son
day.
Mary Summerson was a Cameron
visitor the past week.
Edwin Darren and family, of Port Al
legany, who havo been the truests of his
parents, J. 11. Darren and wife left this
week for home accompanied by his
mother.
Mrs. Joe Frank, of Florida, was the
guest of J. R. Frank and wife Friday.
The "Jolly Bunch" of Sterling Run,
held a chicken and corn reast at Mason's
Grove last Wednesday night and to say
they had a good time would be putting it
mildly. The whole evening was one con
tinual round of pleasure with all the
chicken, cake and corn that could bo eat.
There were 27 present of whom were

The public schools commenced here
this week with Gladys O'Keeke teacher
at Sterling Run and Kathryn Orr at the
Tannery.

Geo. Darrin, of Sinnamahoning, who
has been doing some carpenter work at
this place was home over Sunday.
L. n. Smith is busily engaged in
thrashing out B. J. Collins' large crop of
oats this week.
G. S. Hill and family, of Grove Hill,
moved into town on Saturday, he is a
good neighbor and we are glad to see him
come.
H.F.Smith, of Sterling Run, took
dinner with his brother A. W. Smith at
the Willowdale mansion on Monday, he
reports that the late frost killed all his
crops in Square Timber Run.
The Huntley school commenced this
week with Gertrude Hill as teacher.
W. W. Johnson was an Emporium
caller on Sunday.
Evert Duell, of Mason Hill, was the
guest of his aunt Mrs. Malvina Nelson,
of this place, this week.
Selburn Logue while picking black
berries on Wood k Murry's lot was chas-

on Friday, a searching party of men and
dogs scoured the woods and hills over for
Bruiu but he had escaped.
W. R. Smith has finished roofing his
house and barn which now has a very
fine appearance.
A. W. Smith captured a large copper
head on Friday which measured three
feet.
Rev. Hall, of Castle Garden, preached
a very able sermon to a large congrega
tion in the old church at Huntley, on
Sunday at 11 a. in.
Mrs. John L. Johnson is on the sick
list.
Our old friend Geo. Trainer, of Em
porium was a p'easant caller iu town on
Monday.

Herman Anderson is wearing that
smile too, it is a big baby girl. All con
cerned doing nicely.
Edward McFadden, Jr., who has been
very ill the past few days is reported
better at this writing.
The transmission tear on Operator
Harvey's auto is out of commission, caus
ed by to fast running coming from Em
porium Sunday evening to get here in
time togo on duty.

school meeting at Emporium Saturday.
P. It. It. Agent, J. M. Schneider pur
chased a fine cow from G. L. Page last
week. John says he is going to have his
own milk and butter now, instead of pay
ing high prices.
Operator E. D. Ivrape had the misfor
tune to tramp on a rusty nail Saturday
evening, and is causing him much pain.
Operator Lupro relieved him Monday.
W. 11. G. Walker and party from ihe
Brick Works started for Buffalo on the
Buffalo Flyer Monday afternoon.
Page's Tigers were defeated by Sulli
vans Angoras Sunday, score Ifi to I,
Dan Sullivan. Sr., umpire. This ex
plains all.
The Cameron Club is endeavoring to
get a game with fair week. Emporium
Manager please take notice.
F. B. Iloag is kept busy harvesting his
tomatoes, as the frosts are getting close,
and he has a blinger of a crop. Frank
does the early morning exercise.
R. D. Graham and Michael Fox visit
ed friends in Sterling Run Sunday, re
turning in the cool of the evening.
The L. C's held their regular meeting
Sunday afternoon at their headquarters.
Frank Sullivan was elelected Delegate
with Robert Graham, Alternate to repre
sent the lodge at the National Conven
tion. The L. C., still have a large mem
bership despite the recent panic which
has just past. Brother Graham was call
ed onto give an address. He started to
give some of the good and bad points of
his new bear dog which he recently pur
chased, but the president would not stand
for it and the meeting was adjourned.
