Kathryn May is visiting relatives at Williamsport this week. On Thursday night of last week there was a heavy frost killing the tomatoes and buckwheat on Chapman Hill and also at the tannery about \ of a mile from here. Nothing was injured here. Alice Strawbridge returned home Fri day from a two weeks visit at Johnson burg and Ford City. Xuienia Brooks left Sunday for Em porium where she expects to teach this winter. Mrs. Eddy, of St. Marys, was the guest of' her son Thomas Eddy the past week. Grover Mason was a Renovo visitor the past week. George Chapman who is in feeble health reached his 91-th birthday Tues day. Clara Stewart, of Driftwood, is visiting friends in town this week. George O'Keefe left this week to at tend the State Normal School at Lock Haven. The Thimble Society met at the home of Mrs. Laura Smith's Thursday. They served ice cream for refreshments. ' Bert Tanner and daughter Vera, of Mason Hill visited Niagara Falls Tues day. Mrs. Martha Smith returned home Saturday from a several week's visit at Corning, Danbury and New London. Mrs. Oscar Norburg and son, of Drift wood, were the guests of the former's parents John Anderson and wife Son day. Mary Summerson was a Cameron visitor the past week. Edwin Darren and family, of Port Al legany, who havo been the truests of his parents, J. 11. Darren and wife left this week for home accompanied by his mother. Mrs. Joe Frank, of Florida, was the guest of J. R. Frank and wife Friday. The "Jolly Bunch" of Sterling Run, held a chicken and corn reast at Mason's Grove last Wednesday night and to say they had a good time would be putting it mildly. The whole evening was one con tinual round of pleasure with all the chicken, cake and corn that could bo eat. There were 27 present of whom were Bell Simpson, of Renovo, and Mrs. Maggie Mitchell and daughter, of II oofciac Falls, N. Y. Hill and family, of Grove Hill, moved into town on Saturday, he is a good neighbor and we are glad to see him come. H.F.Smith, of Sterling Run, took dinner with his brother A. W. Smith at the Willowdale mansion on Monday, he reports that the late frost killed all his crops in Square Timber Run. The Huntley school commenced this week with Gertrude Hill as teacher. W. W. Johnson was an Emporium caller on Sunday. Evert Duell, of Mason Hill, was the guest of his aunt Mrs. Malvina Nelson, of this place, this week. Selburn Logue while picking black berries on Wood k Murry's lot was chas- Ed out of the woods by a huge black bear on Friday, a searching party of men and dogs scoured the woods and hills over for Bruiu but he had escaped. W. R. Smith has finished roofing his house and barn which now has a very fine appearance. A. W. Smith captured a large copper head on Friday which measured three feet. Rev. Hall, of Castle Garden, preached a very able sermon to a large congrega tion in the old church at Huntley, on Sunday at 11 a. in. Mrs. John L. Johnson is on the sick list. Our old friend Geo.
