Collins, Clyde Collins and 0. J. Miller were Driftwood callers Saturday. A valuable grey horse belonging to William 11. Logue was bitten in the front fetlock by a copperhead snake last Thurs day and nearly died. The poor animal swelled up very badly, every effort is being made to save its life but it is a very sick animal yet. The horse was working on the township road when bitten. Harvey and Wright Mason, of Tunnell Hill, were callers in towu the first of the week. J. F. Sullivau and wife were Empoii um callers one evening this week. Supt. Mattie Collins visited her brother and family Sunday. Assistant Road Foreman of Engines, 11. E. Johnson culled on friends and re latives in town this week. Thos. Kilburn is visiting friends iti Clearfield this week. The residence of J. 10. Johnson caught fire about noon last Wednesday and a greater part of the roof was destroyed. B. J. Collins first discovered the fire and quickly came to the rescue and assisted by the crew of the local freight, W. B. Smith and the section crew the fire was extinguished. No damage was done to the furniture, cause of fire not known. E. IX Krape, the efficient and genial Tehgrapher of Cameron visited friends in town this week and passed the cigars on the advent of a fine ten pound son which arrived at his home a few days ago. Brother Krape is a strong advocate against race suicide and his many friends wish him sincere congratulations. The young son wili be named William How ard Taft Ivrape in honor of the popular Republican candidate for president. There will be a reunion of the well known Mason family in Wylics Grove on August 25th. The Mason family is one of the pioneer families of Cameron county and are highly respected throughout this section. Great praise is due to the Supervisors and pathmasters of Gibson, for their ex cellent work on the public roads. Gibson township has the banner roads in the county, which are safe for all kinds of traffic. When passing through our town just take a look at A. W. Smith's buckwheat, B. J. Judge Harry Alvan Hall and wife re turned 011 Monday from a month's automobile trip through the New Eng land States. The tour was full of inter est and enjoyment. Ridgway Record. Amendment No. I—Providing for the consolidation of the courts of Com mon Pleas of Philadelphia and Alle gheny counties, and to give the gen eral assembly power to establish a separate court in Philadelphia county, with criminal and miscellaneous juris diction. No. 2—Proposes an amendment to the Constitution allowing counties, cities, boroughs, townships, school dis tricts, or other municipal or incorpor ated districts to increase their indebt edness, never to exceed ten per cent, upon the .assessed value of the taxable property therein. No. 3--Designating the change in which the governor shall make ap pointments and fill vacancies. No. 4—Designating the change in the terms of state officers so that the state treasurer shall be elected at the same time with the secretary of state, secretary of internal affairs, etc. No. s—Designating that the general state election hereafter shall be held bi-annually instead of annually, in the even numbered years. No. 7—Designating the dispensing with the spring election, and provid ing that the local municipal officers be voted for in the odd numbered years in November. In 1910 the municipal election shall be held as usual in February, but all officers chosen ac that election to any office for two years, and also all elec tion officers and assessors chosen at that election shall serve until the first Monday of December, 1911. All offi cers chosen at that election for four year terms shall serve until tho first Monday of December 1913. All justices, magistrates and alder men chosen at that election shall serve until the first Monday of December, 1915. All terms of office after 1919 of city, ward, borough, township and election division officers shall begin on the first Monday in December in the odd num ber years. All offices of any kind whose term may expire during the year 1911, as at present provided, shall continue to hold their offices the first Monday of December of that year. All judges of the court and all coun ty officers whose term may expire in | the year 1911, shall continue in office j until the first Monday of January, 1912. No. B—Giving the general assembly authority to make laws providing for the appointment of election boards, when not elected bi-annually. No. 9—Designating that all offices whose election is not provided for in the Constitution shall come under the new provisions. No. 10 —Stipulates that county offi cers shall be elected at the general elections and shall hold office for a term of four years (beginning on the first Monday of January next, after their election,) instead of three years, as at present. No. 11—Indicates that in order to carry these changes in the Constitution into complete operation, it is hereby declared all terms of office, as at pres ent, with an odd number of years, shall be lengthened one year. This extension of official term shall not effect officers elected at the gen eral election in 1908 nor any city, ward, borough or township, or election divis ion officers, whose terms would expire in 1910.
