The Driftwood callers this week were A. H. Jordau, Mrs. (i. S. Hill, Elmer Hill, Marion Hill and Ethel Hill, H. P. Hill h:. just finished sowing 10 acres of buckwheat. Elmer Hill and his sister Audrey have returned from Jledix Run, where they were spending the -Ith. They report a line time. We are having some very warm weather, thermometer registering I) 9° in the shade. The wheat crop on the Hill is about ready to harvest. It is a fine crop this year. Apples in this section were much damaged by the dry weather. We were blessed with a fine rain Sun day which means a great deal to the farmers. Thomas Hill and son Marion called on G. S. Hill and family Sunday. Henry liiii and daughter Carrie made a business trip to Driftwood this week. Mrs. 11. P. Hill is quite ill at this writing. Freddie Hill, son of Henry Hill, will begin school at Huntley this coming term. M. 11. STERLING RUN. Mr. Oliver and wife of Philadelphia, visited J. A. Dice and family Tuesday. .John Schwab and wife of Cameron, visited in town Sunday. Wm. Berry killed a valuable Scotch coolie dog belonging to Mrs. Lewis Mon day, by running his horse and buggy over it. Mrs. Heilman of Emporium was the guest of Miss Mabel Wylie the past week. Mrs. Jos. Burns and family were Renovo visitors Shis week. Mrs. Jos. Shaffer and son of Mt. Carmel, visited Mrs. I). E. Spangler Saturday. Oscar Norburg and wife of Driftwood visited his parents, John Anderson and wife Sunday. Mrs. Maggie Chapman returned home Saturday from a visit with her son at MeKees Rocks. A. 11. Quite a number of Emporium berry pickers are seen iti this place daily and report good luck. B. Egan, of Emporium, made a trip to this place Tuesday. Wm. Fox, who receutly opened a meat market in this place is proving very suc cessful. and is building up trade fast. The market was needed badly in this place, and the people in general hope for the best of success for him. Edwin McFaddcn was suddenly at tacked with sudden illness Tuesday, p. m., while sitting in a chair at the New Cam eron House, of which he is proprietor. Dr. Smith, of Emporium, was immed iately called and was successful in rally ing him. lie is reported improving. He says that the Huntley team can beat either team if Thomas Hill can be in duced to coach for them. J. E. Johnson was a business caller in Emporium this week. Phineas Johnson and family, of First Fork, are visiting the former's parents. John Drivas, of Sinnamahoning, visit ed relatives in town Saturday. The berry pickers report plenty of black raspberries ou the mountains and are returning will full pails. Mrs. H. E. Johnson, of ltenovo, visit ed at J. L. Johnson's Thursday. William Kailborn was a business caller in Sterling Run Saturday. Thomas Kailborn has picked five bushels of berries since last Monday and says business is good. The fine rain Sunday has helped the potatoes and corn very much but we can stand another good storm. Rev. Mr. Hall, wife And child, of Houghton, X. \\. are the guests of J. S. Jordan. Rev. Hall has been appoint ed tolill the Castle Garden and Huntley circuit and will locate at Castle Garden.
