Gould, returning home yesterday noon. Mrs. H. J. Silman and daughter Lenora and son Harry, of S. Marys were guests of Alex. McDougall and wife last week. E. A. Saunders and wife, of Sinna mahoning, who have been visiting in Missouri, returned home last Friday, having a delightful visit. Mrs. W. H. Freeman and son Floyd, formerly residents of this place, but now of Cranford, N. J., are visiting relatives and friends in town. Mrs. B. W. Green and Miss Alice Montgomery visited Buffalo last Fri" day and Saturday. They met many former Emporium friends and had a pleasant time. Misses Steila and Vera Geary, who are filling good positions in Buffalo, are at home visiting their parents and many friends. They are excellent young ladies and highly esteemed by our people. Geo. D. Neidlinger and wife and brother Harry Neidlinger, of Ridgway, who have been visiting relatives in Lycoming county stopped in Empori um over Sunday. Geo. paid his re spects to the PRESS. Dr. D. C. Groves, one of the best known young professional men of this section, lias been appointed mine phy sican at Amßbry, Cambria county, and will go that plaoe first of next week to take charge of an extensive practice. Dr. Groves is a physician of ability and energy and the people of Anisbry are furtunate in securing the service of so capable a man as Dr. Groves to look after their physical ills. Robertson, who has been enjoying a month's vacation, is expect ed home to-morrow. Miss Carrie Huff, one of the faithful clerks in the post office, has returned from a two week's vacation. Stewart Nellis is about on crutches, having sprained his left ankle, the re sult of falling from a ladder at the tan nery. Miss Edith Sterner, who is visiting her brother at Austin has been confin ed to her room ever since she went there. Mrs. Ed. S. Master and family, of St. Marys, were visiting Mrs. Jas. Willis Gasklll accompanied Master Everett and Miss Nina Lapham to Houghton, N. Y., last Sunday. They had visited at the Gaskill home for several weeks. C. 11. The Misses Patrick, of Patterson, N, J., who have been visiting Emporium for some time, guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. McNulty, like Emporium so well that they have decided to extend thoir visit until Sept. Mrs. McFarland and Mrs. McKnight, of Bradford, and Mrs. McFarland, Sala manca, N. Y., are guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Daugherty—the former being Mrs. D's mother and the latter ladies sisters. They came here on account of the illness of Mr. and Mrs. Daugherty's baby, which is, however, improving. E. L. Pitner, a former insurance agent at this place, but now of Ridg way, came down to see the ball game on Wednesday, and remained over night. He went to the depot on Thurs day morning to catch the flyer and as the train was a little late, fell asleep and the train did not wait on him. E. L., you will have to explain. Ex-Sheriff R. M. Overhiser, who re cently purchased the J. W. Kriner property, on Fourth and Maple streets is making extensive improvements. What was the carpenter shop has been enlarged and made into a comfortable dwelling. Extensive improvements, furnace, etc., are being added to the Fourth street residence. Mrs. Lulu Crum, of Chicago, 111., wife of Lewis Crum, who resided at Sizerville several years ago, is visiting relatives and friends in this section. Mrs. Crum will be remembered as Miss Lulu Glessan, who after the death of her father, when she was three years old, resided with her aunt Mrs. Lemuel Lucore, until she married Mr. Lewis Crum ttnd moved to Chicago. Mrs. Lucore accompanies her to Sinnama haning this week to visit relatives. Henry Page and family, of Austin have been visiting friends in Empori um for several days, guests of Datus, Ensign and wife, West Fourth street. The family will be pleasantly remetn bered by many of our citizens. Mr. Page, who is the Republican nomicee for County Treasurer in Potter county, is just recovering from injuries receiv ed in a railroad wreck on B. & S. R. R., several months ago.
